Developer Tribute Games has announced that its 2D action game Mercenary Kings will release on the PlayStation 4 via the PlayStation Store on April 2. The PC version will hit Steam March 25.

Mercenary Kings is a side-scrolling action game similar to Metal Slug, only with a deep crafting system. There are more than 300 gun parts and more than 100 knifes, which you can use to craft different weapons. You’ll choose between two characters, Empress and King, and play with up to four player either locally or online.

Created by the team behind Wizorb and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game, Mercenary Kings was successfully funded on Kickstarter in September 2012, with over $116,000 from 3,880 backers. It’s been available through Steam Early Access since last year with over 60 missions, whereas the complete game will have more than a 100.

Tribute Games said that it will retain its “Early Access price of $14.99 for a whole week from launch,” but wasn't clear if the price will change later. It also said that PlayStation Vita, Wii, and other platforms are possible, but that at the moment it’s concentrating on launching the game on PS4, PC, and Mac.
