PS4 gets Mercenary Kings April 2, PC version hits Steam March 25

Choose from over 300 parts to create your own gun in a 2D action game from the creators of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game.

Developer Tribute Games has announced that its 2D action game Mercenary Kings will release on the PlayStation 4 via the PlayStation Store on April 2. The PC version will hit Steam March 25.

Mercenary Kings is a side-scrolling action game similar to Metal Slug, only with a deep crafting system. There are more than 300 gun parts and more than 100 knifes, which you can use to craft different weapons. You’ll choose between two characters, Empress and King, and play with up to four player either locally or online.

Created by the team behind Wizorb and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game, Mercenary Kings was successfully funded on Kickstarter in September 2012, with over $116,000 from 3,880 backers. It’s been available through Steam Early Access since last year with over 60 missions, whereas the complete game will have more than a 100.

Tribute Games said that it will retain its “Early Access price of $14.99 for a whole week from launch,” but wasn't clear if the price will change later. It also said that PlayStation Vita, Wii, and other platforms are possible, but that at the moment it’s concentrating on launching the game on PS4, PC, and Mac.

So in between AAA's Sony is making sure we're getting some sweet indie games, right on sony!

I played the demo for Scott Pilgrim, and it was one of the worst XBLA games ever released

Sad, always major focus on indie games with the ps4.  This isn't news.

Odd choices for headlines from Gamespot these days.  Why doesn't it read "Steam gets Mercenary Kings March 25, PS4 hits April 2"?  Do they have a quota of headlines that have to start with "PS4"?

Don't worry. The Xbots will just get the game on their PCs.

That's what dumb fck Sony fanboys always say at least.

And what exclusives does Microsoft have after titanfall? Nothing interests me. A new Halo in almost 2 years and a new Gears of war in almost two years . I don't play racing games, or fighting games. I like Gears of war so that's when I would get an Xbone personally. But I read very little news about games coming to Xbone.....indie or not.

I thought all Sony fanboys had gaming PCs. They always claimed to. Why wouldn't they play all these indie titles on the PC?

@bob15x  As i said in a post before, the majority of us buyers who bought next gen were expecting lots of new games which would be a step above the PS3. Not a step down to Commodore 64 level. I hear you brother.

@grognard66 ha. Whenever they announce release dates for multiplatform games, they ALWAYS exclude PC from headline. But that's understandable, Sony and MS pays good money for hidden adverts on gaming websites.

@xboxoneanddone  No these are just indi filler games, you know, to keep us PS4 players topped up with games to play. Greatness comes on the 21st with Infamous SS, and then The order 1886 when it's ready. Oh and Drive Club.

@sampson3121 but you shouldn't expose your son to this kind of violence, didn't you watch Foxnews, take him to a firing range instead.

I smell lots of jelly coming off of you. Go cry some more since you can't play Titanfall like PC and Xbox gamers can. Sony gamers just have to miss out again...just like The Witcher 2, Splinter Cell Conviction, Metro 2033, Alan Wake and Mark of the Ninja.

Nonsense, you stupid fanboy. The PC generated over 20 billion dollars in revenue in 2012 from PC games alone (not even counting hardware sales).  And the PC platform is growing at a faster rate than consoles. These are FACTS that can be independently verified.

The PC gaming platform is bigger than any single console...it's as big as two or three of them combined.

Gamespot does have paid content from Sony that looks like articles. Namely the articles the list the PSN+ games of the month. The line has been blurred so it sometimes hard not to think there isn't an bias.

Lots more 'waiting for greatness' it looks like. Besides, I thought all you Sony trolls owned gaming PCs. Why are you getting excited for PC scraps if you already own a gaming PC?

Too bad Microsoft released Alan Wake in 2010. That's the last good Microsoft first party new IP. Microsoft's first party studios have been pumping out crap Kinect shovelware for the last four years.

@BoozerX @Saidrex @grognard66 i wish i could say same thing about you :D btw, Google - "esa_ef_2013", there are some interesting stats. Also doesn't matter, only thing we should hate - mobile gaming. It's their fault our games are getting dumbed down and now also have microtransactions :D

LMAO

Show me one AAA multiplat game with more sales in PC than consoles.

Get a brain.

@BoozerX @Saidrex @grognard66 omg, looks like you are as stupid as i thought. Fate of fanboy - always ignorant and stupid. Enjoy your future. Won't waste any more time fighting your wild guesses and imaginary numbers.

GTA5 over 30m, if released in PC maybe 2m more. And being generous here.

CoD most popular game in the world, tournaments played in consoles.

Why? Because the players are in the consoles.

Look up some numbers before making stupid comments

Saidrex

@BoozerX and again, look up some numbers before making stupid comments. Also explain me why so many Xbox1 owners rather choose TitanFall PC version than Xbox1?

Gamers playing in a PC. Not PC users.

They dont spend the amount of money that consoles users do.

MONEY TALKS, BULLSHIT WALKS.
