PlayStation 4 games are now available to preorder through the PlayStation Store on the PlayStation 3, as well as the Sony Entertainment Network (SEN) store, the company has announced.
The first two digital PS4 titles available for preorder are SCE Japan Studio's Knack ($60) and Digital Extremes' multiplayer shooter Warframe (free).
The PS4 launches on November 15 in North America and November 29 in Europe. One of the platform's previously announced launch titles--Watch Dogs--was recently delayed to spring 2014.
Sony previously announced an official launch-day Watch Dogs PlayStation 4 bundle that would include a copy of the game. With the game delayed, a Ubisoft representative told GameSpot, "Our partnership with Sony remains strong and we will have more details to share about the specific benefits of this partnership for PlayStation customers at a later date."
Digital downloads for full retail shelf pricing of $60. WHY OH WHY do companies still charge full retail price on virtual content that requires virtually no overhead? If they want a digital future they can't charge physical prices anymore, period! I will gladly pre-order and buy digital content once they come to their senses and stop raping their customers.
Nothing there except Watchdogs is £56, damn console gaming is too expensive i'm dreading the price of PS4 games, might cancel and stick with PC, can get almost 2 AAA for that price or 3 - 4 when on sale , feel like i'm constantly being ripped off by console companies, not to mention launch day issues with firmware, drivers software & hardware.
But i want infamous, killzone and FF 15 :(, arggh, guess that's the price you pay for being an early adopter of next gen tech, decisions decisions.
@Dannystaples14 Only the ones who have been living under a rock, but I'm sure it'll happen, especially to parents buying games for their children and not knowing the difference between a ps4 and a ps3.
@wookiegr I don't mind the initial price. Prices are what they are. I just wish the depreciation on them was better. Buying a three year old game for like $50 is just not right.
If I am stoked enough for a game to pre-order it chances are $60 is probably worth it but if I am just bored and want to play that game I never got around to playing when it came out, you need to be able to do it on the cheap. It is the reason I play PC games, I use Steam to fill in the back catalogue of games for a fraction of the price on console. Otherwise I wouldn't go near PC.
@megakick How? Most of what Sony has been doing since the PS4 announcement has been adding more perks to their system and taking advantage of Microsoft's setbacks. If anything, what you've said is the other way around as the Xbox One may still struggle as a result of vague PR practices even after all the changes that have been made.
@Pre_ordered_PS4@masterace101 I'd say PS4 needs it's first mascot out of the gate, considering how Crash Bandicoot is nowhere in sight and it'll be a little while before Ratchet, Jak and Sly make their transition to the system (hopefully!)
Look at it this way; I like what I saw of Knack at E3, but I never liked Crash, and I only "liked" GOW. Telling me that Knack (in your opinion) is like a combination of both does the exact opposite of making me more interested in the game (IMHO).
