PS4-exclusive Resogun local co-op DLC teased

“First of many things to come.”

by

Developer Housemarque has posted an image to Twitter that teases upcoming DLC for Resogun, which may include a local cooperative mode.

Resogun is a sidescrolling spaceship shooter inspired by arcade classic Defender. It was released alongside the PlayStation 4’s launch, and was also added as a free game for PlayStation Plus members, so you probably at least tried it if you were an early adopter.

At the moment, Resogun only has an online multiplayer mode, and fans have been asking for local cooperative mode since it launched. The image above, showing two players looking at the same screen, suggests that they will finally get it.

Housemarque also said that the teaser is for the “first of many things to come,” so we’re likely to see other additions and improvements coming to the game as well.

For more on Resogun, check out GameSpot’s review, which found it almost impossible to put down.

What kind of DLC will get you to play Resogun again? Let us know in the comments below.

Highly addictive but random in places game, I play in normal mode get through the stages gain lives level up etc etc without actually being caught out then lose to the bosses at the end many attempts and somehow takes so long to diminish the life bar on them... This was the first and only game I had to play and complete on rookie which then gets plasterd on the what's new screen, I can play the game but can't beat the bosses on normal which is totally frustration yet I laugh and not once got a "nerd range" but playing f f x if stuck on a boss after a few attempts I have to walk away.... Cursing

My trend at mo seems I lose two humans out the the lot

If it's local coop it will likely be split screen which isn't cool.

Hands down... I've never seen soo many particle effect in a game before...

Not saying nothing else could do this... but this game takes the cake on particle effects with no hiccups.

Cmon, please give us the local coop for free, I'd really love it but paying for such a feature, just doesnt seem right

This sounds perfect for playing in the dorm room, friends and I spent hours taking turns playing this game when it was new!

This is honestly the only really good PS4 game. I can play this game for hours.

Resogun is one of my favorites! Llocal cooperative mode would offer much fun to the fans of PlayStation 4 shooters. More spaceships and a new level (hopefully) would make my day!

Local play should have been part of the game

I'll be disappointed if it is local co-op DLC. I'm just looking forward to additional levels and new ships.

I have resogun but for some reason I thought it always had local co-op to begin with??? Oh well, some extra levels and some new ships wouldn't hurt either housemarque

Lolal co-op shouldn't be "dlc" for this sort of game, it should be an update.

Had a blast with this game when I got my PS4. Just a small game that became addicting. Not really interested in local co-op as much as them adding other features to the game. Such as more ships and levels.

Play it, beat it, and don't care for local co-op.

I just finally downloaded this a few hours ago. If they are adding local co-op, maybe I'll just wait for that. Been a LONG time since I played a game like this :).

But at the moment, I just got some friggin cool as hell Neon powers.

The devs are investing their time, effort, and money into producing this. Expecting them to hand it to you freely is what 'doesn't seem right'.

Despite that, it sounds like it's going to be free anyway. So, it's your lucky day. (Cannot confirm this)

Me too, after the considerable time invested to earn the ultra-rare Resogun Platinum trophy, I would love some new stages and some additional trophy challenges, but I was kinda surprised it didn't have local co-op from the beginning. It's difficult to find players who have unlocked Master difficulty online too.

No it's still free with PS+. I just downloaded it

DLC stands for downloadable content in saying this that means it could either be free or paid for. IMO it should be free (probably will be)

Why is it stupid? Never call someone out without an explanation or being able to back up your words. So is it stupid because it is or because my opinion is not the same as yours?

@hoyholyhoy @rasterror  he said really good. he's right too, there are no games that are really good on the ps4. Most of them are amazing or just straight up fantastic.

@Zidaneski, which space shooter that you can shoot full 360 degree? Most of them shoots only in one direction

@Jay2528 @s2i2p2i2o Resogun is a twin-stick shooter, a very legendary genre. if you have played anyother twin-stick shooter and took the time to get good at it, Resogun will be a piece of cake especially since you can only fire 2 ways instead of a full 360. With these games its all about the High score. Not surprising to hear of people getting platinums after a few hours.

@s2i2p2i2o You earned the Platinum trophy in 5 hours? You must be a truly great Resogun player if you managed that.
