PS Vita Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault delayed

Portable version of action game delayed to January 2013 for polish; PS3 iteration still due November 27.

Gamers hoping to take advantage of Sony's new Cross-Buy promotion with this month's Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault are out of luck, at least for now. The PlayStation Vita version of the game has been delayed to January 2013, Sony announced today on the PlayStation Blog. The PlayStation 3 version remains set for November 27.

"In order to provide the best gameplay experience possible, the PS Vita version of Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault will be coming out in January 2013," reads a line from a statement from SCEA producer Greg Phillips.

Full Frontal Assault takes advantage of Sony's new Cross-Buy promotion, whereby those who purchase the PS3 version will receive the PlayStation Vita iteration for free. For now, those who pick up the console version will not receive the portable version.

In response to the delay, Sony said will give away copies of the Mini-Boss Skin Pack for those who purchase Full Frontal Assault for PS3. It includes character skins from previous Ratchet games and is pictured above. It is not clear what Sony had planned to charge for this content as a standalone ware.

According to the PS Blog, it's still cross-buy as soon as it comes out on PS3; you just have to wait a while to actually play the Vita version.

Sony delaying a game? Is anyone really surprised?

Would love to know if we still get the Vita version with this.

Perhaps they are actually polishing it, you know, with a polishing tool. From Poland :P

Time to count your losses Sony, the Vita is a complete failure. Not one decent developer wants to work with it and if they do, they end up half-assing their PORT (leading to a delay or cancellation). Because of this lack of third party support, it will have too few titles that make people want to buy an expensive Vita along with the ridiculous price of a memory stick. The Vita is a super cool device, but nobody is buying it and no developer wants to work on it. Sadly, I highly doubt those trends will change.

Theres no excuse why there not more Vita titles out at the moment. Sony's lack of 3rd party and exclusive tittles have just slugged this vita system. I still don't own a vita since i was let down by ps3 Twisted Metal's play.

So does that mean if we buy the PS3 version we'll still get the Vita version eventually... or have they just scrapped that idea?

@paperwarior17 I was about to say how Sony was about to screw Vita but thankfully good guys like you are here to don't see the world burn.

@DesertLynx83 Agreed.  If the PS Vita version of the game isn't ready to go on Day One, then I'm in no rush to buy them.

@dylan417 I disagree.  The Vita is the best videogaming experience that can be had without sitting in front of a home console or PC.  And I suspect that its retail life will be about as long as the PSP's.

@dylan417 Whatever. Quit talking nonsense. Sony has long haul expectations for the Vita. It hasn't even been available a year internationally and it's not like a huge library of games is going to pop up overnight. I don't no where you got your crystal ball or insider info but I haven't seen evidence to say that developers don't want to work on Vita titles or that no one wants to buy one.

@endorbr Dear God, I hope so. This is one of the flagship cross-buy games! I want this for both systems!

But to be fair, nobody on the internet ever let a little thing like "facts" get in their way of spouting complete, and utter B.S.
