Sony Computer Entertainment America has given gamers another reason to check out Home, as the publisher today added a new wing to its PlayStation 3 social gaming space. The latest addition to Home is Sodium One, a sci-fi world players can access through a teleporter in the Home central plaza area.

Once in the world of Sodium (described by Sony as "a vast salt plain"), players can interact with an AI guide named Vickie who doles out objectives to complete, or they can take part in an arcade-style tank game called Salt Shooter. The game includes 50 levels, with the first five playable for free. After that, extra levels and items for the game can be purchased for a variety of prices, ranging from $0.99 to $4.99. While Salt Shooter supports multiplayer action and features a leaderboard, it is playable alone as well.

Sodium One also lets users play minigames and take part in more standard Home social interactions, from customizing their avatars with themed attire to serving drinks as a virtual bartender in the Sodium Hub. The Sodium game space was developed by Outso, virtual environment designers who have previously constructed Home spaces for Warhawk, Uncharted 2, and Infamous.
