Westwood Studios announced on Monday that Dune 2000 for the PlayStation has gone gold. The game is now expected to land on store shelves in three weeks.

Simon Golding, technical director of Dune 2000 for the PlayStation, was in large part responsible for the direction of Westwood's Command & Conquer, Red Alert, and Red Alert Retaliation's. "With Dune 2000 we wanted to take real-time strategy further than anything yet seen on the PlayStation," Golding said. "So instead of the sprites, we created the game completely from polygons. This means we were able to create larger units, which animate better and move faster than in previous games."
