Prototype 2 gets $80 collector's edition

Premium pack for Radical Entertainment's upcoming game will feature preorder bonus content, first DLC drop, art book, soundtrack CD, digital comic, and merchandise coupon.

Prototype 2 is getting an $80 special edition. Activision today announced the Blackwatch Collector's Edition of its upcoming action adventure game and detailed what gamers can expect for the extra $20 charge above and beyond the game's standard price point.

If you're planning on buying more than $100 of Prototype-branded clothing, the special edition pays for itself!

Available for the April 24 launch of the game on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the Blackwatch Collector's Edition includes an official soundtrack CD, a hardbound art book, a digital comic from Dark Horse Comics, and a 20-percent-off voucher for the Prototype merchandise store, which will sell an assortment of hoodies, shirts, posters, and other swag.

The premium bundle will also include bonuses players won't be able to fully take advantage of on day one, including the first downloadable content pack for the game (Colossal Mayhem, due out in May) and the Radnet content subscription being given to all Prototype 2 preorder customers. Radnet will be a series of weekly content drops featuring 55 pieces of added DLC in the form of in-game events, challenges, avatar items, themes, and behind-the-scenes videos.

Prototype 2 is the sequel to 2009's open-world action adventure title from Radical Entertainment. It is set in the fictional world of New York Zero and casts players as Sgt. James Heller, an ex-soldier tasked with taking down the protagonist of the original game, Alex Mercer. The PC edition of Prototype 2 is set for July 24.

I'll probably wait until Ultimate edition comes out with everything in it.

save feature coming soon as dlc for $5 you'll be able to save your progress. pause will also come at the same time as dlc for $5 as well. you need both pause/save dlc to save.

Better than RE6 $1,000 collector's edition

Meh. I'm perfectly fine with the regular edition. Aside from the art book the collectors edition just isn't worth it.

What happened to the days when an expensive collectors edition meant you got statues, keyrings, and other stuff you could actually HOLD! $80 for a coupon for money off a store, a digital comic, free planned dlc (Planned? WTF? if it's planned, just put it in the game for the rest of us) A collectors edition should be something that COLLECTORS buy I don't want to collect expired and used PSN codes. I want books, extra DVDs and statues! F*** you Acti!

Hey I like Prototype but hell no I ain't paying 80 dollars for this game. I'll wait till you drop your prices to under 30. Thank you Activision, I will buy second hand as well because your company is garbage.

I think $80 should be the upper limit on a collectors edition game. I would almost never pay that much though.

Hey guys look its Activision being innovative again. Innovative by charging you $80 to save money on Prototype hoddies and posters lol.

Considering the first game played just like The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, I'm not too keen to pay uber premium prices for a special edition of its sequel.

If you're not going to cram a load of content into the release of the game and charge $5-$10 for DLC, then the game needs to be at a $40-$50 price point once again.

Is activision trying to make a COD Elite type subscription for this game? Piss off. I paid $60 for Skyrim and I havent even made a dent in the amount of content after 20+ hours of playing. I am sick of on disk and planned DLC. This is why I buy your games USED activision because you rip everyone off.

I pass on all CEs now, after I realized some years ago that the tchotchkes they sell you are either embarrassing or pointless. I look forward to their game, and if they want to butcher it at $60, they risk losing my next purchase. It's already happened in other franchises, I don't discriminate.

Planned DLC in the collector's edition. ..This will keep happening as long as people keep buying it.

I was extremely disappointed in the first Prototype (Crackdown and Infamous were much better games), so the thought of preordering the sequel and paying $80 for the collector's edition seems ridiculous. I'm sure some people liked the first game, though, so I guess this is meant for those people.

Enjoy the game with all the 55 pieces of content we butchered from the final build! Only 80$ to play the game the way it's meant to be played! Also we give ya a crappy comic and the soundtrack, thx for the money, no refunds!

I'll wait for it to become the $31 Collector's Edition at Amazon after nobody buys it at launch.

I'm really not interested in artbooks or soundtracks so I'll probably stick with the standard edtion which will be just fine

additional DLC is the only add for an extra $20...I do love having 'stuff' but doesn't sound like that's the case here.

@Tripwolf How many other games let's you run around and do the things you can do here? Name 10 games. 5 even in the last year since the market is as filled as you say.
