Swedish game company MindArk AB has announced that it is looking for players to help test the economy system featured in Project Entropia, its upcoming online role-playing game. The game's unusual economy system lets players pay real-world money for in-game items, as well as sell in-game items for real money. To test the system, MindArk is placing a variety of special items throughout Calypso, the virtual gameworld. The total value of these items is approximately 1 million Project Entropia dollars, which is equivalent to $100,000 US.

Project Entropia is set in a futuristic world where players assume the role of human colonists. Players can explore the virtual world while fighting off alien creatures and invading robots. The game has been in beta testing since May. MindArk plans to begin the commercial trial phase, which will include approximately 5,000 testers, in the near future. Those interested in participating in the test can apply at the official Project Entropia Web site.
