Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney game production in final stages - Ace Attorney creator

Shuu Takumi states that the upcoming 3DS crossover adventure game is still in development.

by

The last time gamers heard news about the upcoming Phoenix Wright/Professor Layton crossover was way back in 2011. Despite the long silence, Ace Attorney creator Shuu Takumi has said that the development process of the upcoming 3DS adventure game Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney was still going fine and, in fact, was nearing its end.

This particular crossover's development has been silent until recently.

According to a Famitsu interview (via Andriasang) featuring Takumi and Ace Attorney movie director Takashi Miike, Takumi said that his life is totally focused on completing the game. "The production of Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney is at its climax. While I still cannot say much, [the game development] is progressing well, so please wait a bit more."

On a related note, both Takumi and Miike discussed the possibilities of a sequel to the Ace Attorney movie. Miike said that he would rather use film as a medium to show sides of the story that weren't present in the games, provided he has full creative reign over the possible sequel.

The last news about Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney was its announcement back in 2010 as well as an official trailer in early 2011. For more information, check out GameSpot's coverage on the title.

This translation is wrong, he said that the production is at climax, not at final phase.

Are these games any good? I have never seen any gameplay or screenshots other than the guy pointing his finger at whoever is standing closest to him. I am thinking it's a game about pointing at everyone you can. Nah, but for real, what are the games like. I assume they must be good because I see the pointing pictures all the time.

Haven't played a professor layton game but absolutely love the ace attorney series. Please localize THIS and Miles Edgeworth 2.

If this doesn't get localized I'll be quite mad.

as long as the second ace attorney movie doesnt focus on PW2 (which was the butt of the entire series) id love to see what the team of miike and takumi can do.

This is great news! In the mean time, would you ever so kindly release Miles Edgeworth 2?

I just love the idea that something like this exists.

Hmm usually a "versus" is a nice way of saying we've run out of ideas to do anything individually, let's hope this is up to scratch.

Before this, I wish Capcom would localise Ace Attorney Investigations 2!

It'd be cool to have Layton collect the evidence and Phoenix do his usual legal stuff.

I'm curious how this is gonna play out. It's hard to build something around these two characters. For sure, it will be mind bending but how's the story gonna play out??

I'm super excited about this, though I don't think a western release has been formally announced... still, it'll give me a chance to catch up on all the Layton games.

Never played either but I would definitely try this one out, waiting for the 3DS Professor Layton.

@tightwad34 Ace Attorney is great fun. The gameplay follows something similar to your a court room drama. A crime gets committed, you investigate and look for clues and then bring your evidence to the court room.

You opposition is usually a prosecutor and you object/ contradict his claims using evidence and logic. You can try out the first one for cheap on your iphone FYI. :)

Some people say JFA was the worst game, but I think it's the 2nd best besides AAIME.  Even though it only had 4 cases. The 3rd case was great and the 4th case was in the top 3 cases ever
