Soccer fans looking to get on the virtual pitch can now do so more cheaply, thanks to Konami. Today, the publisher announced that it is lopping $20 off the cost of Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Both versions of the E-for-Everyone rated game will now cost just $30, with the PlayStation 2 edition costing just $20. All other versions of the game will retain their usual pricing, with the Wii and 3DS editions remaining $40 each. The move comes following similar price drops in Europe earlier this month.

Released last October to solid reviews, the game was billed as "the most radical revamp" of the Pro Evolution Soccer series to date. It introduced a power bar that gave gamers more precision in placing their passes and shots on the net. It also sports a reworked AI system, making it so passes no longer automatically hit their intended target.

The game, which features Argentine wunderkind and current FIFA World Player of the Year Lionel Messi as its cover star, also saw the addition of the Master League Online mode, which caters to clubhouse managers. The mode lets soccer fans bid against other players to secure the world's top talent in an effort to build the best squad.

With PES 2011, the franchise featured the Copa Libertadores, South America's premier club football competition, for the first time. The most recent iteration also sports expanded options for the Europa and Champions League, as well as increased difficulty settings.
