Preorder PS4-exclusive Infamous: Second Son at GameStop, get limited edition free

You'll also receive 500 Sony Rewards points if you preorder Sucker Punch's new game from GameStop.

GameStop today announced that all preorders for Sucker Punch's upcoming PlayStation 4 game Infamous: Second Son will be upgraded to the limited-edition of the game at no extra cost. This applies to any customer who preorders the game, whether they did so in the past or today and up until launch. The offer is available while supplies last.

The limited edition version of Infamous: Second Son includes a premium foil cover, "exclusive" DLC "Cole's Legacy," and in-game vests for protagonist Delsin.

On top of that, you'll net 500 Sony Rewards points (redeemable at Sonyrewards.com) for preordering at GameStop. The retailer also announced that it will hold midnight launch events across the United States on the evening of March 20 to mark the game's launch.

Infamous: Second Son launches March 21 exclusively on PS4. Lead designer Jaime Griesemer recently left Sucker Punch. For more, be sure to read GameSpot's previous coverage.

Except for the 500 Sony points this means absolutely nothing. Walked into Wal Mart and got my copy of limited edition WITHOUT pre ordering it.

There's still Gamestops?  For what purpose?

Isn't the limited edition essentially the standard edition for this game since there only seems to be the limited edition and a collectors edition currently being sold? How is this news?

I don't think they are doing a midnight at all gamestop because when I asked about it the other day I was told they were not doing one at my gamestop

This information is old news! Gamestop has had this pre-order bonus posted on their site for months. Why GameSpot waited till the day before it launches to say anything is beyond me.

I get a discount where I buy mine from so I can wait for all the extras because a few months from now we can all buy those little goodies.

Take 9 dollars off of your purchase by using promo code paypal15 at Gamestop online. I got Infamous for 58 dollars. Much better than 67 dollars

This is a great pre-order exclusive for those who have a Playstation Credit Card as well.  Rack up them points!

...and in Canada, you get a kick in the ass with an unnecessary $50 price hike.

@IndremaLover Midnight releases with fellow gamers and CEs because most retail still won't do release day stuff like that.

@adub424  Oh I will be getting Knack in the future and I will dedicate it to you and all the haters out there.

@brandonmshanks

It's yet another marketing gimmick. I'm no fanboy, this happens on every platform, most AAA published games. There's always a marketing gimmick to sell a product as "special". In the end, it only matters what's on the inside.

@BigBossWato  @devilwing86 if your town has more than one, one of those will probably be staying open for anyone that reserved them in that town. They just send all the copies to one store before they send them out the next morning to individual stores.

devilwing86
devilwing86

@BigBossWato Smaller locations won't do it as they won't have enough copies preordered to justify staying open so late.  I have 3 gamestops within a 10 minute drive from my home, and only one is opening at midnight for this.

marcuzgungeze10

@Vodoo  They have no need to pre-order games. They are sent a preview copy of most. They should stay on top of these things for their fanbase though.

GameSpot's staffers would rather be checking Humble Bundle and Steam Store every day instead of checking GameStop's. :/

Maybe, but all those little goodies may cost more than your discount.

I think you may want to reconsider your sales estimate. Neither previous InFAMOUS game was sold so early in the previous generation.

With only 4 to 5 million consoles capable of running this new game sold so far, the initial sales numbers most titles rely upon just aren't possible. Sure, this title will sell systems and you can bet on a greatest hits version and maybe even a GotY edition around Christmas, meaning additional units sold.

The problem is that inFAMOUS sold 2.73M copies and inFAMOUS 2 sold 1.65M copies (http://www.vgchartz.com/gamedb/?name=Infamous), for a total of 4.38 million inFAMOUS games. If using an estimate of 10 million PS4 units sold by the end of 2014, your prediction of approximately a 43.8% attach rate is absurdly high. When the used game market is factored in, that looks even more ridiculous.

I would guess the sales numbers to fall somewhere in the range between the two other games. Possibly just above inFAMOUS if the game adds new gameplay mechanics to make this, the third game using the inFAMOUS name, new and exciting like the original seemed back in 2009.

Well you need to blame Canada for there weak currency for that one.

Sevenizz
Sevenizz

Wrong. The currency is the same now as it was when the PS4 was released in November. This is nothing more than Sony milking their customers because they have the hot product. Notice Microsoft and Nintendo haven't raised their hardware prices - or goods in general.

Getesh
Getesh

@RicanV @Getesh  That's online, and while certainly you can do it online, you can't walk up to a brick and mortar and do it.

@Sevenizz

Yay! Gamespot's most butthurt xbot is here! Lol watching you make an ass out of yourself on behalf of Microsoft is always a pleasure :)

waxcriminal

@BigBossWato both ps4  and xbox one is selling good. Sony is a company that is bleeding money and isnt doing so well, thats why they have to milk their customers.

Sevenizz
Sevenizz

Regardless of what your price is, mine went up over 12% overnight strictly by greed. No other reason.

Feeder16
Feeder16

Can't believe all the heartache in Canada, it's still cheaper than the UK £349 ($577)

Sevenizz
Sevenizz

Then why was the PS4 launched at 400 CAD in November? The economy did not have a sudden dip as our dollar hasn't changed in a year. What changed? Oh, that's right - Sony has a hot selling product they can barely keep on the shelves. Why not get more money for it since demand is so great? Simple, greedy economics my friend.

Stop being such a mindless fanboy and defending greed.

Sevenizz
Sevenizz

Except, I live in Canada. I think I know my economy and prices of things I buy.

BigBossWato
BigBossWato

The other two companies can't afford to raise their prices considering they aren't selling as well as the ps4, furthermore if you look a the current exchange rates you will find that $450 in Canada is roughly $400 American.

@Getesh @RicanV  So then the article is correct because it is still being offered as of now.
