Tactical Power Rangers-inspired role-playing game Chroma Squad will be released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation Vita, and mobile devices in "early 2017," publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment announced today.

The game sees players take control of a team comprised of five stunt actors who have quit their day jobs to create their own Power Rangers-inspired television show. Gameplay includes purchasing and upgrading equipment, crafting weapons, and building giant mechs to engage in battles against monsters--all for the goal of achieving high TV viewer ratings. Combat is tactical and turn-based.

Chroma Squad was first released in 2015 for PC as the result of a successfully crowd-funded project on Kickstarter. The game features sprite-based graphics and a chiptune soundtrack. It is developed by the Brazil-based Behold Studios.

In addition to drawing heavy inspiration from Power Rangers, Chroma Squad employs some rather quirky humour. Check out the game's style (and amazing song lyrics) in the trailer above. Chroma Squad will be priced at $15 at release.
