PopCap fizzes on 360, PS2

Casual-game publisher readies Feeding Frenzy, Zuma, Bejeweled 2, and Astropop for November release on consoles.

In February, Xbox Live Arcade general manager Greg Canessa left Microsoft to join with casual-game titan PopCap Games. Speaking with GameSpot, Canessa said that what he hoped to bring to the broad-appeal game publisher and developer was a focus on moving PopCap's games onto consoles and handhelds.

That partnership now seems to be bearing fruit. PopCap announced today its first retail offerings, PopCap Arcade Volume 1 for the Xbox 360, and PopCap Hits Volume 1 for the PlayStation 2. PopCap Arcade Volume 1 compiles four of the casual-game maker's hits already available over Xbox Live--Bejeweled 2, AstroPop, Feeding Frenzy, and Zuma--and retails for $29.99. PopCap Hits Volume 1 brings PopCap's offerings to the PS2 for the first time. Bejeweled 2 and AstroPop are included in this compilation, which will retail for $19.95.

PopCap Arcade Volume 1 for the Xbox 360 and PopCap Hits Volume 1 for the PS2 will be available at retail on November 15.

Already have all these games on Xbox 360. Maybe they should work on getting some other titles on the XBLA.

the trial versions are free on x360 or PC. Full games have to be purchased. I think it's a good idea since my girl-friend practically TOOK OVER my PC..lol

Personally I feel that PopCaps games are fun on the computer when you want to kill like 5 minutes while your waiting for something to download. I don't really feel like turning my xbox on to play a 5 minute game.

Dumb idea. All of those games are already available separately on the Xbox Live Arcade.

I think my mom's going to be a little ticked considering she just purchased AstroPop yesterday for the same price as this compilation. ;/

Anyone who buys this on 360 is an idiot. The more you buy, the more they will make. Let's put a stop to this before it starts.

I suggest they price it at $180 in order to not cut into sales at Xbox Live Arcade's Marketplace prices.

SteveBIRK, I could care less, the first few levels are the same as the last few levels (except with the difficulty cranked up). In most cases, you can play enough of it to have had your share.

Maybe it's a typo and they meant to say that PopCap "fizzles" on 360, PS2.

to thevinster ya its over priced but u cant play the entire game oon ur pc for free only the first couple of levels

$29.99 for 4 games that each cost 800 points, so you save $10? Yea, right, all of these games should be in a bundle for $20, they've been on the marketplace forever and I've seen no price breaks except for the Labor Day weekend deal. Feeding Frenzy alone is worth 400 points, Zuma is a great game but needs a price drop, and I've never played AstroPop. In most regards, these can be played online (on your PC) for free.

It's the same games that are on XBL... with all the games PopCap has, why release the same stuff? Confession: I'm addicted to Bookworm Deluxe! WARNING: To anyone who might get this because of Zuma, the downloadable Zuma on XBL is buggy and broken. Chances are, they won't fix it for this release.

When is SWOS arriving on XBLA?

wait a minute, you're freaking charging me 30 dollars for four games and I can't even put it on my cell phone. The only time I play those games are when my girlfriend is shopping and I have to wait for her. Make it cheaper and then we're talking.

Not sure what would possess me to pay $20 for Bejeweled 2 on PS2 when I can play it for free online...but okay. =/
