Pool of Radiance debuts at number one

Ubi Soft Entertainment's latest role-playing game, Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor, took the top spot on NPD Intelect's latest weekly list of best-selling games. The game, which is a sequel to SSI's classic Gold Box Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game Pool of Radiance, lets players control a group of characters on a quest to recover powerful artifacts and stop a mysterious evil presence that is spreading through the land. The game was released in late September, and many players have since complained about the game's technical problems.

Electronic Arts' popular virtual-life game The Sims fell to second place from first place the week before, followed by Blizzard's role-playing game expansion Diablo II: Lord of Destruction. Operation Flashpoint, Codemasters' latest tactical action game, remained in fourth place, and THQ's sci-fi shooter, Red Faction, held on to fifth place.
