Pokemon's March 14 debut caps Nintendo Q1 lineup

First-quarter release schedule headlined by HeartGold, SoulSilver; Mega Man 10 mobilizing by March; blue, pink Wii Remote due Feb. 14.

Last week, Capcom revealed that its blue bomber would once again be given a retro retrofit in the forthcoming WiiWare title Mega Man 10. Today, Nintendo provided an inclusive look at its first-quarter release schedule for the Wii and DS, and among the tidbits of information revealed was the game's March launch window.

The blue Wii Remote…

As it would turn out, March looks like it will be a fairly big month for Nintendo's platforms. The publisher also revealed today that Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver for the DS and DSi will be available March 14. The two-pronged Pokemon invasion has been a mainstay on Japan's sales charts since the role-playing game opened to 1.4 million in sales in September.

Announced as WarioWare Myself at the 2009 Electronic Entertainment Expo, WarioWare DIY has been given a March 28 release date. The DSi title lets gamers create their own fast-paced quirky minigames featuring the bizarro Mario. A console installment, called WarioWare DIY Showcase, lets gamers download and play the handheld concoctions onto the Wii, and it is due during the first part of the year.

…and the pink Wii Remote.

Lastly, Nintendo also announced that it would be adding two new color options for the Wii Remote. Beginning February 14, gamers will be able to purchase the Wii Remote in either pink or blue, both with the precision-enhancing Wii MotionPlus add-on packed in. No pricing information was given. However, when Nintendo introduced the black Wii Remote bundle that included the MotionPlus peripheral in November, it retailed for $49.99.

The remainder of Nintendo's first-quarter release schedule is listed below.

It's sad that the only Pokemon game coming out has already been out for ages as a ROM. Granted, it's going to possibly be slightly different with updated sprites from Nintendo's end but... do people who have played the ShinyGold version really want to shell out for different images of the same things? A sad, sad day...

So I wasn't impressed with 95% of that lineup. Is that just me? Give me a new Metroid game for the DS already.

I've always liked Pokemon. I only watched the first season(Cause all the other ones are sort of lame), but the games are amazing.

Where is the Nintendo that existed in teh 1980s? Nintendo revolutionized gaming.......now i think its time for them to give it up, because its just embarrassing. Well, nobody can say that they will not die hard.

i'll think about heartgold/soulsilver, but in all honesty pokeGen IV has been the worst gen yet, the only good games will be these remakes, Gen V will really suck, all their pokemon ideas have pretty much run out i'm afraid, look forward to the pencil pokemon!

Goddang! Red Steel 2 might be good. And I say that tentatively. The only good games nintendo can make are it's mario/zelda franchises, and we only get those once a year, if that. Where's galaxy 2?

Only a couple games I would get, but the rest is disappointing.

All I care for is Mega Man 10 on the list. Sigh... what is the video game world coming to?

So far except for Mega Man 10, I see nothing I want on the Wii list. I guess Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid Other M is Q2 or later? What happened to that new Sin a Punishment game to? Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul SIiver is going to be fantastic though.

Its funny. I'm reading the comments and I see "Wow, Pokemon is gonna be great", "The Wii sucks", "Really? Pokemon? Cool!", "Eatt crap, Wii.", "Oh my goodness, I just can't wait for Pokemon... oh, and the Wii sucks.". I have to admit, there aren't so many Wii games that are good coming out.

it seems a good month for ds/dsi, but honestly just 3 or 6 games on the wii list were good while the others are, well... ****. "Fast food panic"???? Seriously!?!?!?!? I wish ONLY the best things for nintendo in 2010.

There are about five titles that are actually known, the rest are just don't exist. These lineups are terrible! but lets hope for better titles in Q2

wow, this is nintendo's lineup. This is horrendous, there is like a dozen great games coming to 360 and ps3 in the next few months and nothing coming out on the wii. Well this is why I also own a 360

I need to buy the pokemon gold/silver update I really adored those I did enjoy diamond but I HATED platinum just because it felt exactly like diamond except you had a scarf

Rottenwood

@Ashman555 Why more Pokemon? Perhaps you missed the 'opened to 1.4 million sales in Japan' part of the story. Diamond and Pearl have sold about 18 million units worldwide... the only possible reason to stop there would be a deeply-held hatred of money. No More Heroes 2 is one of my most anticipated games this year... the original was one of the most whacked-out, wildly entertaining games I've ever played. The other would be the Team Ninja Metroid game, but I'm sure that'll be in 'TBA' territory for some time.

Oh and let us not forget SMT Strange Journey, also got to go an exclusive live Atlus Demo, and that game is pure classic SMT. Despite what others are saying, there seems to be a great number of nice niche titles coming to Nintendo platforms. I will play the big releases on my 360 and my nice games on my nintendo platforms. Overall First Quarter while pricey is going to rock!

TheTrueMagusX1
TheTrueMagusX1

There is one game that actually I am looking forward too, and that is Shiren the Wanerer. I got to attend a live Atlus demo of this and the game looks amazing. Its got some classic roguelike elements, while making the game accessible, something that the other two Shiren games did not do. And bring on Tatsunoko vs Capcom baby!

Not really my cup of tea but good for those that like them. There is only one game that tops all games that I want on all consoles in the next 5 years, That game is Metroid: Other M. I can be patient though. There's lots of stuff on the 360 and PS3 to keep me busy in the mean time.

mikeyvp87
mikeyvp87

@Scythes777 You remember when RE4 came out for the gamecube and everyone said, man I gotta but a gamecube to play that game. You remember when Twilight Princess came out and people bought a Wii just to play it. (Even though the gamecube version was ultimately better). That's what I mean, a killer app. Sony has a bunch of those, Microsoft has a bunch of those, I can't think of any games of that caliber for the Wii.
