Pokemon TV app hits iOS, Android

Free application for mobile devices includes 50 "fan-favorite" episodes from the animated series updated on a weekly basis.

by

The Pokemon Company has launched a new free Pokemon TV application for iOS and Android devices allowing users to watch ad-free full episodes of the animated series. The app includes 50 "fan-favorite" episodes from seasons 1-15 and will be updated on a weekly basis.

In addition, the most recent Pokemon movie--Pokemon the Movie: Kyurem vs. The Sword of Justice--will be available through the Pokemon TV app February 15-18. On top of this, animated short Meloetta's Moonlight Serenade will launch through the app from March 4.

The Pokemon TV app is not the first mobile software from The Pokemon Company for iOS and Android devices. The company in December launched a $2 Official Pokedex app, an illustrated encyclopedia that contains entries for more than 640 Pokemon creatures and functions much like its in-game counterpart.

The next core Pokemon games will be Pokemon X and Y, which will launch this October for the 3DS.

I recognize Ash and I recognize Pikacu, oh and that green thing left of Ash looks familiar. Other then that they all look unfamiliar, and I used to be a big Pokemon fan.

Is Ash stil an up-an-coming Pokemon trainer who does ok but fails horribly during the championship? By now he must have as much experience as some of the gym-masters from Kanto 10 years ago.

That's cool I guess, it's not like I'll watch it *downloads app*.

I downloaded it yesterday.  The earliest episode was season 2 episode 2, the filler episode right before cinnebar island and it involved team rocket doing a pokemon magic and this boy wanting to see a Meowth.  It was funny to watch because not only did it bring me back to 99 but Ash had no idea it was Team Rocket in the terrible magician costumes and then when Pikachu disappeared the first thing he said was "Hey you too look familiar".  The icing on the cake was when at the end the boy said he was going to join the pokemon league some day and Misty said "then that will make you and Ash rivals and will have to compete" and Ash says "I look forward to battling you some day"  That kid with his Meowth is probably doing better then Ash at this point lol.

I tried watching this on my iphone.  I get about 5 seconds of video before the video cuts out and all I get is the sound.  Anyone else having this problem?

Everything after Hoenn sucks, they seriously need to end Ash's legacy and let a new generation of trainer take the spotlight.

The anime hasn't been relevant every since Ash never woke up from his coma now he's stuck going from region to region doing the same thing over and over again and staying 10 years old for the past 15 or so years lol.

Not gonna lie, I did watch quite a bit of the recent Pokemon seasons. Though I stopped because Ash is a freaking idiot of a trainer.

A very cheap marketing method (not that that's a bad thing). Got to give them credit, it will definitely get more people into Pokemon considering how many people are on their smartphones/tablets these days. Doesn't interest me much though, the only episodes I'm interested in are the tournament arcs because that's about the only time the series can claim to be unpredictable.

No ads and updated weekly. I can not complain. It would be nice to see some old episodes. I wish other shows would do this. I hate have to go to a app or website and see a key blocking the content behind a tv provider.

You would have thought they would have put this on the WII U or 3DS.

Watching Pokemanz on the gamepad would be pretty cool. Assuming they're not the altered, butchered 4Kids episodes.

I think it' s a nice idea. Haven' t watched a pokemon episode in ages.

Free and no ads, wow! Just tried it for a couple of hours and no slowdown and buffering at all. Very impressed, hope it stays that way.

@Darth_Tyrranus Nope I haven't had that issue

Is it a certain episode that does for you it or all of them?

@Metallicwolf29 Well, now that you've come out from underneath your rock, allow me to give you a tour of the future.

@WllDan7 The problem is, the older episodes would need re-dubbing because 4Kids handled those, Nintendo and Pokemon Co let them go because they got tired of the way they censored some things.

@SirNormanislost It streams episodes, although like the article says, they update every week.  So yes they are "free"

@ral400 Just type 'Pokemon" on your iPhone/Android App Store and it should be the first one to come up.

Probably because you don't have Jelly Bean. You have the T-mobile variant of my old Samsung Fascinate (I still despise that phone...two year-long nightmare), and there were several apps I couldn't run because Android 4.0 was never released for it.

bahamut1283
bahamut1283

@ral400 @bahamut1283 Well, if your running the current Android OS it should work fine.  It works fine on my Samsung Droid Tablet.
