Pokemon Art Academy, The Game That Teaches You To Draw Pikachu, Launching October 24

Do you want to be the very best (artist) like no one ever was?

Pokémon Art Academy, the 3DS game that teaches you to draw Pikachu and other creatures from the popular series, will launch on October 24, Nintendo announced today.

The game, already available in Japan and Europe, was announced back in May. It will be available at launch in stores and through the Nintendo eShop for $40.

In Pokémon Art Academy, you can take part in 40 different lessons that teach you how to illustrate characters like Pikachu, Charizard, Oshawott, Fletchling, and Torchic, among others. When you're finished, you can share your creations through Miiverse or save your work to an SD card and print it out.

Just put it in the Sunday papers along with the turtle face everyone used to try and draw. Google images is also another place you can go and look at pictures, and try to draw them. SMH.

$40 is pretty steep.  For that price I expect every Pokémon in 2D & 3D images/

I prefer the original "fat" Pickachu for some reason.

If you really want to learn to draw, pick up some anatomy books for artists. If you can realistically reproduce the human form, then you can draw anything. Especially the hands. Before I take on a new tattoo apprentice, I ask them to draw human hands in different positions.

As an artist myself, I find this a good thing :] They should do this for more games.

But it won't make you the best artist ever XD

Generally, pay good attention to proportions, and practice your lines a lot, so that they become swift and accurate, and build a good hand-eye coordination.
