It's Tuesday, and that means that the PlayStation Store has been updated. And today, you can download August's selection of free PlayStation Plus games.

There are six games available for free to PS Plus subscribers, including both recent and older titles. Headlining the selection is Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris, the isometric, cooperative multiplayer-focused action game that launched last December for PlayStation 4. In addition, if you've held on to your PlayStation 3, you'll also be able to pick up God of War: Ascension. The game was released in March 2013 and was developed by Santa Monica Studio.

The full list of games available for free downloads is below.

"CastleStorm's well-executed twists to the tower defense genre make it a unique game with something to offer a variety of players. The occasional control issues are regrettable but hardly insurmountable, and the blend of offensive and defensive objectives and the competitive play are sufficient reasons to overlook that minor flaw as you happily commit yourself to the task of ruining the marauding Vikings' day." Read the rest of our Castlestorm review here. We gave it an 8.

"No, it doesn't quite reach the audacious and rage-filled moments of God of War: Ascension's predecessors, nor does it move the series forward in any way, but it's skillfully put together, and wonderfully satisfying to play. The mix of Greek mythology and lurid schoolboy fantasy still manages to simultaneously charm and gross out all at once, and that's a trait few games can boast, let alone execute with such confidence." Read our review of God of War Ascension here. We gave it an 8.

"If you're willing to let go of any hope for depth and instead seek a chunk of clever cooperative fun, Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris is ready to escort you on another tomb-raiding adventure... As an afternoon's worth of jolly cooperation, Lara Croft's newest sojourn makes a fine flight of fancy to an Egypt that probably never was, but certainly should have been." Read our review of Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris here. We gave it a 7.

"As memorable as it is to navigate tilting rooms with only a few hanging lamps to light the way, it is that spider that most embodies Limbo's somber spirit. The later puzzles are complex and clever, but they don't haunt the heart... The end offers insight into a backstory left otherwise untouched--enough of it to inspire another playthrough, this time ever so much wiser than you were before." Read the rest of our review of Limbo here. We gave it an 8.

"Sound Shapes is a remarkable convergence of music and platforming. The community levels hammered home just how singular and enthralling this game is. It is a transcendent experience in so many ways. Maybe its most important contribution is giving a voice to the world through music and action." Read our review of Sound Shapes here. We gave it a 9.

"Though punishment is but a slap on the wrist initially, trying to achieve the highest rank is far from easy... Stealth Inc: A Clone in the Dark is a tightly crafted and incredibly rewarding adventure through a dark dystopia." -- Read our review of the first Stealth Inc, which we gave an 8.

All six of these games are available for free for Plus subscribers until the end of the month. You can download them from the PS Store here.

My personal recommendation is Sound Shapes, a terrific music-based platformer. Its built-in levels are awesome, especially those with music composed by the musician Beck, but its map editor has let the community make some incredible levels.
