PlayStation Mobile launches today

New mobile game platform arrives for PlayStation Vita and select Android phones, tablets with 16 games and more to come.

PlayStation Mobile has launched. Sony announced today through the PlayStation Blog that the new mobile game platform is now available for PlayStation Vita and select "certified" devices.

Super Crate Box is one of 16 launch titles for PlayStation Mobile.

The initial launch lineup for PlayStation Mobile includes Loot The Land, Beats Slider, Super Crate Box, Rebel, OMG Zombies, Samurai Beatdown, Aqua Kitty, Twist Pilot, Flick Hockey, Fuel Tiracas, Tractor Trails, Underline, Wordblocked, Beat Trellis, Hungry Giraffe, and Cubixx.

Sony said it plans to "constantly expand" the lineup, but did not name any future titles.

Players will need a Sony Entertainment Network account to access the content, and detailed instructions on setup can be found on Sony's support page. Currently supported "certified" devices include Sony P and S tablet models, as well as a range of Xperia smartphones. The full list of compatible devices is available through PlayStation Mobile's website.

I don't agree with this as a gamer. It's a good move for the company, but it's giving the transition to dumbed down games more firepower.

Curious how much effort it takes to certify an Android game for PS Mobile. I see a lot of potential for Sony if they support more Android games on the Vita.

Tickle me curious. May see if my phone supports this, but will certainly try it on my Vita in between bouts of LBP.

Patch in some trophy support, some online capabilities, and some popular games like Shadowgun, Dead Trigger, NOVA, and Minecraft PE, and you got yourself a deal.

If not...then it's PS Minis all over again...

Hey, more gaming to the masses, I can't say that's a bad thing for phonies! lol.(My term for phone gamers).

We are at Gamespot.com, this article is about a company bringing games to gamers...not really a problem. Now, that FIFA sales article? That's a bit boring. :P

Bought a few games from the service today.  Very nice pricing in all but a couple of instances.

Aqua Kitty especially is a really excellent take on Defender.

Now they just need to sell PS1 games for their PS devices like they originally advertised.  I'm getting tired of using buggy emulators to play PS1 classics on my Experia Play.

I hope they get the mobile version of Minecraft on there at some point.
