PlayStation 4/PlayStation Vita bundle in December - Report

New "Ultimate" bundle reportedly will be released in December; no price mentioned.

by

A PlayStation 4/PlayStation Vita "Ultimate" bundle will be released in December sometime before Christmas, according to a report today from United Kingdom trade site MCV. An image of the bundle (below) was captured by Videogamer.

A price for the PS4/PS Vita bundle was not mentioned. The PS4 retails for $400, while the PS Vita currently sells for $200, making a price point for the bundle in the mid-$500 range likely.

In the UK at least, Sony will also run a £2.5 million TV campaign for the PS Vita this holiday called "The Best Way to Play." The advertisement will reportedly promote Remote Play and Media Molecule's adventure game Tearaway.

Sony has yet to confirm any of this information, and a company representative was not immediately available to comment.

Remote Play is a major selling point for owners of both a PS4 and PS Vita. Players can begin a game on the high-definition home console, and then continue their progress away from the system through streaming. GameSpot tested this feature and found that Remote Play has roughly a 50-foot limit.

why Vita is sold so bad is the evil memory card that only works on vita, this was the critical sale point for vita

Correct me if I am wrong or am totally off about this but I believe I read something just recently about the next series of Vita's being released coming with a cheaper quality screen or something like that anyway?  I know with minimal information being available at this time for this possible bundle but any idea whether the Vita coming with this bundle being that new series of Vita's or what?

Any chance this will come to Australia?

I wonder if  the bundle will include a month of PSN. The games included is what will sell this package. With some outlets already selling the Vita at a reduced price, and used being even cheaper, they'll need to give us a good reason. I'm guessing download codes for some cross play title or two. Two cross play games equates to 4 actual "games" and that's always an attractive thing to see on a box: "Four free games included!".

That will be a nice bundle if the price is reasonable, I currently own a Xbox One but planing on getting the PS4 a year from now so i'll keep my eye on this bundle.

So, if I connect my PS vita to a TV via HDMI, then I would be able to remotely play my PS4 game on another TV. If that's possible, then WOW F****ING WOW!!! Please let that bundle be true!!!

WOW! Now I can get two consoles that have no games worth mentioning, all wrapped in neat little package. NOPE!

This was one of my favorite things about the Wii U. I'm glad to see that Sony is fully embracing this idea. It's just great.

I think a pretty sure thing that a bundle is coming eventually.  I figured they would at least until next year to do one though.  No guarantee this is actually happening though, the sources seem kinda sketchy to me honestly.  But then again, I'm not a journalist.

You know, Eddie, you could make people not as suspicious of your "headlines" if you actually tried to look into sources and the like.  The MCV article lists no realiable sources, and the Ben Law quotes don't directly say anything about a PS4/Vita bundle.

I'm not saying you should go straight to Sony for everything, but at least TRY... A GAME ad that got out a bit early, a UK retailer's employee memo, just ANYTHING in the way of sourcing to make it look less like the games media just makes shit up.

Even the picture is suspect?  Where did MCV get it?  A newspaper clipping?  What newspaper?  What other magazine?  Or was it just photoshopped?

Am I asking too much when I ask for effort?

Could care less now about that. I already have both. This will be great for people who decided to wait to buy a PS4 though.

This is a fantastic offer. I've been toying with the idea of getting a VITA for some time, but haven't quite been given the nudge that makes me take the plunge. I still don't think the software line-up is that great, but what little there is coupled with remote play might just be what I need. If this bundle is real, I hope it's still some way out and will be around for a while. I'm still not ready to go next gen. just yet.

As a father of an 8 year old, this is a great deal for parents.  Vita for the kiddo, tons of free games via PS+ and I get my PS4.  Super excited to get this.

The vita is a decent piece of hardware with a mediocre lineup of games. The PS4 is a great piece of hardware with mediocre games. But if this bundle is true, and the price-point is true, this would be an amazing deal, from a strictly monetary standpoint.

...and the game lineups can only get better from here on out. Right? RIGHT?

It's the best way to get their floundering handheld into peoples' hands. I thought they would've launched with this as an option.

If Sony can use their wizardry to price this bundle at $500 or $550 and a game, I'm buying. I can't even see how Microsoft could respond to a deal like that.

At $549.99  Sony can have my Axe, Sword and Wallet.

@YukoAsho Not going to happen.  He was hired while pumping out this crap and he will continue to get paid to do so.  The amount of spelling errors, just in the headlines, are proof that there is either little talent or little care put into the articles.  The problem is that a large portion of users don't know better, which pushes the viewing count.  Then there are people like us, trying to get some decent information and being so disappointed that we harangue GS in a comment, which also drives up the post count.

Either way, we lose.

@Supabul X1's already in trouble, but yeah, $500 or less price tag and MS has explaining to do.

Cloud7794
Cloud7794

@scgarfield Of course not. It's not like they're obligated to though. Bundles for the holiday season should have been obvious. Since when have people gotten retroactive compensation for buying early? It's nearly the same concept as when you buy something, only to have it go on sale a month later. You can't demand a refund from that.

bubba_1988
bubba_1988

@gatsbythepig @YukoAsho If authors actually cared or more like thought they could gain from it they would have grounds for suing on a lot of the articles he posts. He just copies and pastes throwing in a couple of quotation marks for good measure. Eddie has no concept of how to source or which is more like he doesn't care. Take pride in your work for godsakes man!

@YukoAsho @Supabul but but but the kinect... it's so necessary to be able to say "Xbox on" in a world where you can press a button from the couch to turn it on.

SuperDutchy
SuperDutchy

@SamehH99 I think what they're trying to say is that their care level isn't super low. Their ability to care at a lower level than currently is assured by this announcement. Given that they took the time to respond at all, it's apparent that they do care some...therefore they could care less.

scgarfield
scgarfield

@Cloud7794 @scgarfield Well they have a PS3 to PS4 upgrade system in place for 5 or so games as "not to punish early adaptors" but then they do this. They're doing it with the killzone camera bundle too (holding out release til xmas), but this is pretty shitty.

PlatinumPaladin
PlatinumPaladin

@Cloud7794 @scgarfield Hmm. It would certainly be interesting to see which version of the VITA were included. That may actually turn me off this bundle as I am kind of digging the new model.

Cloud7794
Cloud7794

@scgarfield @Cloud7794 It seems the upgrade program was more an easy way to open people up to the new generation while still ensuring they kept buying current-gen stuff as well. I do admit that it sucks when something like this happens, but it's what goes on in a competitive market :/ They've been open enough to suggestion though, and really good with most of their policies. It might not be to hard to suggest they send out a discount voucher for the Vita from the Sony store to all Day One PS4 buyers. Either that, or maybe a Vita price drop again? (or the release of the new, cheaper Vita 2000)
