PlayStation 4 launching November 15
Sony confirms North American launch date for next-generation console; will come to Europe November 29 and be available in 32 countries this year; more than 1 million consoles preordered.
During its Gamescom 2013 briefing today, Sony announced that the PlayStation 4 will launch in North America on November 15. A European launch will follow on November 29. In total, the console will be available in 32 countries this year.
The next-generation platform will be available for $399 in North America, €399 in Europe, and £349 in the United Kingdom. More than 1 million consoles have been preordered worldwide, Sony added.
Sony also announced today that a 14-day PlayStation Plus subscription will be included with all PS4 systems.
On top of that, Sony announced a partnership with Twitch that will bring the video sharing service to the PS4. Players can press the DualShock 4's "Share" button to broadcast their gameplay directly through their Twitch channels.
Competitor Microsoft has not announced a release date for the Xbox One, confirming only that the system will be released in November for $500.
