Today, Sony released firmware update 1.5 for its newest console, the PlayStation 3. According to the official description, the patch added a new keytone in sound settings and a backup-data delete option under the backup utility portion of the system settings menu. It also added the option of signing in automatically with a saved password or manually with a new one.

In addition, according to several threads on the official PlayStation forums, the new update corrects a problem some PS3 owners have encountered. Namely, it fixes the "jaggy" graphics many users have experienced when playing PlayStation 2 games such as Resident Evil 4 and God of War at lower resolutions on the PS3. Though the console supports standard resolutions, Sony has long touted its ability to play games in "true HD" at 1080p and other high-definition resolutions.
