Sony has announced it will launch a Greatest Hits series on the PlayStation 2, continuing the Greatest Hits campaign started on the original PlayStation. To be considered for the label, a game must be on the market for at least nine months and sell more than 400,000 units. Once it's been approved, the price for the game drops to $24.99. A number of PlayStation 2 games are already being sold as a part of the Greatest Hits line, including ATV Offroad Fury, Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec, Twisted Metal: Black, and Dark Cloud.

"Historically, we have always taken a very consumer-centric approach to the market," said Andrew House, senior vice president of Sony Computer Entertainment America. "We are focused on presenting users with the best entertainment experience at compelling prices, further extending the PlayStation 2 value proposition by consistently passing on savings to the consumer. With such strong software support for the PlayStation 2 we now are able to offer must-have games for around $25."
