Play as Alucard in Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 Revelations DLC

[UPDATE] Konami confirms and dates its Lords of Shadow 2 DLC.

[UPDATE] Konami has confirmed that the Revelations DLC for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 will be released on March 25. The content will cast players as Alucard in a storyline that takes place before the events of Lords of Shadow 2 itself. The content will be available across Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, though pricing will be announced at a later date.

The original story is below.

Data files contained within Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 suggest that the title will a receive DLC content, possibly titled Revelations, which casts players as series favourite Alucard.

"Play as Alucard in this extensive add on for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2," reads info mined from the game's files by All Games Beta. "The immersive story is expanded further as new branches of the plot are uncovered, along with rich new environments and challenging puzzles. Fight creatures of darkness and discover the true extent of Alucard's involvement in Dracula's story, his deal with death and his fight against Satan. Experience a whole new aspect of the thrilling conclusion to the 'Lords of Shadow' saga, including some enlightening revelations!"

In the Lords of Shadow series, Alucard is actually Trevor Belmont, the son of corrupted Lords of Shadows 1 and 2 protagonist Gabriel Belmont, who is turned into a vampire during 3DS spinoff Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate.

Alucard is also a favourite of the Castlevania series, and was the star of what is arguably the series' high point: Castlevania: Symphony of the Night on the original PlayStation 1.

GameSpot has contacted Konami for more information.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 was released on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC last week. "Regardless of your experience with the saga, if you have the patience to get through the rough start, you'll discover a much better game waiting for you on the other side," wrote Peter Brown in GameSpot's Lords of Shadow 2 review.

Looking forward to this. Should fill in the story nicely leading up to how he got into Zobek's employ. That kind of had me wondering when I was playing out the main game; How he (Alucard) concealed his true identity from the Lord of Shadow, Zobek?

I think there could also be one more dlc part on the horizon as well, as in the last game. Surely they need to properly conclude the saga? I wasn't happy at all with how it "ended". The game(s) and us players deserve better.

Sounds like a pretty decent subject for dlc. Shame it's coming so soon as I can't help feel a little ripped off yet again.

DLC a month after release? Oh this industry, and the casuals that feed it...oh you...

lol people please stop confusing the castlevania Alucard with Hellsings Alucard :P They are completely different as the Hellsing Alucard is also the real Dracula and the manga was written in 1997. castlevanias Alucard was introduced in Castlevania III Draculas Curse in 1989. Also they have completely different personalities :D

I didn't think the stealth really got in the way of the majority of the game, which is really good, especially the combat engine. In my opinion, they made some really good contributions to the Castlevania series but I'd like to see Konami Japan take a shot at the next one.

Alucard looks sexier than before.....anyway I knew DLC was coming for this game. Just wasn't expecting that.

Read the title and thought this Alucard Sprite was from Helsing Anime series, now that would be cool!

Konami just missed a great chance to use their famous ↑↑↓↓← → ← → B A. Silly Konami, now all they want is
money.

to people saying castlevania is a God of war rip off, you are actually horribly wrong. if anything, both first LOS and this one look more like castlevania then gow. castlevania lament of innocence was the first castlevania to look like this(aside from light and dark magics). a game that predates gow by 2 years

Wow story DLC out so fast!? Couldn't they at least wait 2 months to give the players the illusion that this wasn't already finished when they released the medicore game!?

How about a full game as Alucard? Or have gamers not spoken loudly enough for over 10 years about how much we want a new SOTN?.....dumbasses

LOS 1 was so great.

Unfortunately they changed everything and turned it into the worst Devil May Cry game i ever played...

@Bellum_Sacrum DLC is finished in the months before release when nothing is happening besides QA and marketing, which is handled by the publishers, not the developers.

Would you rather everyone on the team be laid off...? No...? Than thank god for DLC.

@radcrab123  nope the alucard from Castlevania dates much earlier than Hellsing. Hellsing was even inspired by Castlevania as the creator of the manga is a big fan of castlevania ^^

@Gravelord_Nito  Except GoW was the first to do it right, or better than every other franchise anyways. Therefore, we can say it took inspiration from GoW.

@BlackSheepWalls I don't know what the situation was here, but it seems to me that when developers finish a game, they don't get to release it the next day.  They don't sit on their hands until release either.  They either start work on a new project, or start work on bonus content for what they just finished, and then finish that some time after the game is actually released.  Is that bad?

I'm ignorant as to whether that's what happened here, as I have not been following this game, but it seems to me that if they finished (complete story, no discernible bugs, quality) work on the game, you can't really hold it against them if they start on additional content for the game right away.

@eternaldragoonx  Apparently the other metroidvanias sold "horribly", so we won't see anymore of them any time soon.

@Barighm  I wish it was the real one from SOTN. That sword is only like the original in name.

@nparks @deadpen  Yes, nintendo needs to make a game based off the cartoon. He also needs to be in super smash bros.

@Zero_Maniac @Gravelord_Nito  the fact that it's a matter of opinion that gow was the first 3rd party action game to do it right" makes that part of your statement completely irrelevant and a little well... just dumb. In my opinion there are plenty of 3rd person genre games done right that pre date gow by far as mentioned above legacy of kain series being one of many.. Love to say it... Your just flat out wrong. As far as gow being an inspiration well that's on the creators maybe it was maybe it wasn't

theprismhead

@Jaxith It'd be better if they spent all that effort on removing any bugs or just making another game, not a dlc. What's the difference between another game and dlc? Only that a dlc nets you more money for less effort.

@Gravelord_Nito @virusqg  I really loved Lament of Innocence(I have it in arms reach in fact), but what people are saying is that LoS blatantly copied GoW's whip, style of action gameplay, and mechanics. You can't ignore the vast amount of similarities that LoS took from GoW. You'd be arrogant to ignore it.

That said, I don't like the LoS or GoW series. I'm only here because I saw Alucard.

@virusqg thanks virus, couldn't have said it better myself. its a really stupid comment. haha, its not who comes up with something first, but...who does it RIGHT first is what counts? amazing :D

@theprismhead My explanation of a finished game already included having fixed the bugs, and moving on to a new game was one of the options I mentioned once said work was completed.  But I ask, what's wrong with expanding upon an already great game?  Why is DLC, or an expansion inherently bad?  I think there's a lot of value that can be added through bonus content that justifies the development and costs, both for development and for the consumer.

I think it falls upon the consumer to speak out as to what a worthy addition to a game is, and what isn't.  If a bonus episode isn't worth it, why would people buy it?  I mean, DLC for The Last of Us is apparently GS's 'Game of the Month'.  That seems like high praise for something a lot of people would seemingly prefer to have never existed.
