Plants vs. Zombies 2 sprouting late spring 2013

PopCap sequel coming first half of next year with new features, settings, and situations.

by

A sequel to PopCap's 2009 tower-defense-style game Plants vs. Zombies will be available during late spring 2013, the company announced today. The untitled Plants vs. Zombies sequel will include new features, settings, and situations. No further information is available.

Plants vs. Zombies 2 germinates next year.

The original Plants vs. Zombies launched for the PC and Mac, with subsequent versions arriving on a host of platforms, including iOS, Android, Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, Windows Phone, and PlayStation Vita.

Megapublisher Electronic Arts bought PopCap last year for $650 million in cash, with an additional $100 million paid in shares to certain PopCap stockholders, and as much as $550 million on the table if the firm hits performance targets.

What I want is:

-A small story (like what jonasas2 said: e.g raididing, escape to safety, cure to zombification).

-Achievements

-Much more minigames (50 instead of 20?)

-More types of puzzle plus a few of the old ones (say 20 Vase and I,Zombie combined) plus 40 more others.

-Endless of all survival types. Maybe a extra hard "Insanity" mode or a conveyor belt, no mower survival.

-More Adventure levels, depending on story length. Maybe 80?

-Cheat Codes, Zen Garden( Hydroponic Garden/Cave Garden?), the works.

-Car Shop selling Solar Powered Gadgets? Maybe 2 Gadget Slots? And of course, Upgrades and Zen Garden tools. We could throw in one special thing, like the Imitater in the original. Something to reduce sun cost for a plant, or make it recharge 1.5x faster?)

-And the Zonbatar creation thing. I did want a Level Creater, but that's too difficult to code and there are countless ways to give minigames and levels a motive.

This game holds a place in my heart. I sold it to every friend I possibly could, and beat it several times just for fun. I'm so happy they're making a sequel.

Loved the first PvZ. Can't wait till this game gets released. Was starting to get bored of it because of playing it so much.

Yay plants vs Zombie 2 next year and hopefully they will add a plant that can turn zombies into  stone so that it can block their fellow zombie friends from eating your garden before they enter your house and they should add weather effect and add school, shopping mall

i cant imagine what could PvZ 2 have. if it just had the same yard defense purpose, it would definetly be a fail. instead it should add some offensive misions, like raiding zombie camps, or finding a cure (like defend a plant that will cure the zombies into humans)

Sounds except for the part where there's a possibility of EA screwing the game up. They always do. Popcap would've been better without EA pulling the tugs.

Hopefully the Android version won't be a stripped down version this time around... I played the PC version to death, and would have with the Android version as well, it was just that... you couldn't. After finishing the main game there pretty much wasn't much else to do, save for a couple minigames.

I will be happy if it's not the rumoured fps PvZ

Probably a first day purchase. I spent a shameful amount of time on the first one. I still play it from time to time.

(^_^) I loved the music video that was made for the first one and ended up buying because of that. I used to go on a forum that the person who did the music went to, and I am hoping that she does the music again.  I've been really waiting for a sequel to this game, so I am really happy about this new.  Supershigi (I think that's how you spell her internet nickname) is a really an amazing musician! So mush so that I had it on my IPOD, my computer and my brother has it on his...HURRY UP and release this puppy, I've been waiting!  So many awesome games coming out, but sadly these companies don't take flies as currency. (T_T) Sigh, need more money!

Ha! Great news! ...maybe a lil' Plants & Zombies team up against Aliens or something? I'm really just throwing anything out there...the fact is that if it's as high quality as the first game, I'll support it.

Great to hear, lets just hope EA Doesnt get TOO involved and let Popcap do what they did with the first and make it FANTASTIC

Awesome news! I love Plants vs. Zombies. The announcement came directly from PopCap, so I sure hope they've remained autonomous since being acquired by EA.

So.. Another attempt by EA to milk a successful IP?  Yeah, no matter how much you liked the first one, I wouldn't get your hopes up too high.  Is this even being made by the same people?

Hell yes!  Played the crap out of the first one...  There's definitely a MASSIVE need for games that you can load up quickly, play for 15 minutes, and quickly shut down again. ( ...oh, and that don't suck.)

dont really know if it will be great, the first game was good but i dont really think that will make much of an improvement, just look at their other games, mostly the same

What's the point? Zombies will never win, just impossible. They should just crawl into a hole, put their heads between their legs and kiss their a**es goodbye, unless they somehow miraculously go vegetarian =P

Sooooooooooooooo much money......Can't wait for the game though as long as EA doesn't f it up, which they will

@vihazur Just watch; it will require microtransactions to get all the plants, or something.

@ziproy I think they kept the PopCap staff so it should still be good.

@OrianaDorta Do they hell, before people turn into zombies they struggle to eat their veggies, that's why that '1 of 5 a day' rubbish got put on food, you really think a brainless zombie's gonna think twice about a vegetable? haha =P

@Frosty192 Bioware is roughly still the same staff now as when they were bought by EA....look how they ended up? dumbed down RPG's and pandering to non fans.....
