Pitfall: The Lost Expedition found in stores

Activision announces the North American release of Pitfall: The Lost Expedition for all current-generation consoles.

Activision has today announced the North American release of Pitfall: The Lost Expedition for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, and Game Boy Advance. The game sees players assuming the role of explorer Pitfall Harry as he embarks on an adventure spanning some 50 obstacle-filled levels of South American jungle.

"Pitfall: The Lost Expedition adds to the classic vine-swinging and pit-hopping gameplay that the Pitfall series is known for with highly detailed graphics, fast-paced action, and unique interactive goals that will keep gamers on their toes," said Dave Stohl, vice president of Activision Studios. "The all-new adventure also introduces an element of strategy to the gameplay by allowing players to have 'direct control' of Harry's actions by using the analog stick to move his limbs. Whether it's climbing glacial caverns with ice picks, paddling his raft across treacherous waters, or fighting with enemies using a powerful slingshot, the power is in players' hands."

As they progress through the game, players will encounter a large variety of enemies, including scorpions, bats, piranhas, insects, natives, mercenaries, bush ninjas, and monkeys. Unlockable Atari 2600 versions of Pitfall! and Pitfall 2 are also included.
