That's nuts.

Speculating on who might play the superpowered heroes of upcoming Marvel or DC movies is commonplace, but it's not often that a big star reveals that they are interested in playing superheroes that haven't even got movies scheduled. However Anna Kendrick has revealed that she's keen to play Squirrel Girl.

In an interview with Net-A-Porter, Kendrick was asked if she'd like to get into the superhero business, and who she would like to play. The Pitch Perfect star gave a surprising answer, telling the site: "My brother sent me a Squirrel Girl comic because he thinks I should [play her]. I don’t know what Squirrel Girl does other than be half squirrel, but I could be half squirrel!"

The news inspired some creative photoshop work on Twitter...

Kendrick isn't the first person in Hollywood to express an interest in the character. Last year, Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn also revealed he was a big fan. "I love her so much. I'd love to do a Squirrel Girl movie," he said during a Facebook Q&A. The character has already appeared on-screen, in several episodes of the recent animated Marvel show Ultimate Spider-Man.

Squirrel Girl first appeared back in 1992, created by Will Murray and legendary artist Steve Ditko. Over the years she has fought alongside the likes of Iron Man, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and the New Avengers.
