Phantasy Star Universe delayed in Japan

TOKYO--Sega has announced it has delayed the Japanese release of Phantasy Star Universe. The game was originally slated for release on the PlayStation 2 and PC on February 16, but the release date has been pushed back to March 30 for both platforms. The company cites "quality improvement" as the main reason for the delay. No mention was made of the US and European releases, which are still slated for spring 2006.

Phantasy Star Universe will be the first new Phantasy Star title to debut on a Sony console. (Ports of other Phantasy Star games found their way onto the PS2.) The game is being developed by Sega under Phantasy Star Online creator Yuji Naka and will be available for both the PlayStation 2 and PC.
