PGL Spring '99 Finals Begin

Season 4 of the PGL is coming to a close as competitors fly to New York for the big finale.

The AMD Professional Gamers League (PGL) finals begin Friday, May 21, at XS New York in Times Square, Manhattan, and last through Saturday, May 22. Jumpcut will provide a live webcast of the two-day events, and Vstream will provide the distribution.

Called the Guillemot Championships of the PGL (the tourney is sponsored by Guillemot), the event features 16 top-ranked PGL players who will compete for more than US$100,000 in cash and prizes. Two competitions for Quake II and Starcraft will but gamers in the hot seat to see who really is king.

And Guillemot will provide competition AMD-K6-III PCs with its new Maxi Gamer Xentor 32, a Riva TNT2 Ultra-based graphics cards. The event will also mark the first time the company has publicly shown the card to gamers.

The battle is set to begin at 11am each day, and spectators will be able to enter the club for free. Several door prizes, including new graphics cards, will be given out to several lucky fans.
