Persona 5 coming to PS3 in North America in 2015

Atlus confirms first Persona RPG developed for PlayStation 3 launching next year; Persona 4 Area Ultimax, Persona 4: Dancing All Night, and 3DS Persona game all coming West.

Persona 5 will launch in North America sometime in 2015 for the PlayStation 3, Atlus announced today. The game was originally announced in November for a Japanese release. Persona 5 is the first entry in the main role-playing series developed for the PS3.

Unfortunately, that's all Atlus was willing to share about Persona 5. The game's plot, characters, and everything else are staying under wraps for the time being. Atlus' John Hardin teased on the PlayStation Blog that series director Katsura Hashino says the game's storyline will involve "throwing off the chains of oppression to find one's truth self," which explains the image above.

That's not all. Atlus also announced today that the sequel to Persona 4 Arena--called Persona 4 Arena Ultimax--will launch for the PS3 in fall 2014. The game features a new story mode that continues the plot of the original game, adds new fighting modes, and also includes Persona 4 characters like Junpei lori and Yukari Takeba. New to the series is the "mysterious, scarred, red-headed Sho Minazuki," Atlus teased.

On top of that, Atlus confirmed that rhythm action game Persona 4: Dancing All Night will launch in North America for the PlayStation Vita sometime in 2015. The game features 30 tracks/remixes and has been developed in collaboration with Dingo, the team behind Hatsune Miku: Project Diva.

Finally, Atlus announced today that 3DS game Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth is coming to North America and will launch this fall. It was previously confirmed for a release in Japan.

Strange that at this point they would only make it for PS3?!

So I am going to have to go out and buy another PS3 just to play this? How about releasing this on the PS4 too? I mean by 2015 won't most people with PS3 upgrade to PS4 anyway?

As long as they are all physical releases, Atlus is golden again.

Ugh so so long.  Persona 4: Golden was amazing.  Best JRPG I played (just last year) since Lost Odyssey.

Let's hope they don't keep region locking stuff. No news for Pal territories from Atlus as usual.

Nice work not having any idea what you're talking about Eddie.

Persona 4: Dancing all Night might be interesting. Really loved the music to Persona 3 and 4. Some of the best soundtracks I've heard.

p3 came out in 2006 for ps2 when the ps3 was just starting out. p4 came out in 2008 well into the ps3s live cycle. why are ppl shocked that p5 is coming to ps3?

It is a PS3 exclusive, they have no excuse to have no dual audio. Japanese honorifics spoken in English sentence should be illegal.

I can't wait.  Persona is an amazing game series.  I hope Persona 5 comes out in the US in early 2015.

@csward  Remember that Persona 4 came out for the PS2 in 2008, two years after the PS3 came out. This is just how the MegaTen team does it; make games for consoles that they know people already have or can easily obtain.

@jsmoke03 No.I don't have a PS4 and don't want one.PS3 the way to go.

@LickTheEnvelope  If you want a good, polished, proper game you wait for at least 2 years. I personally recommend trying out Revelations: Persona and Persona 2: Innocent Sin. I started with Persona 4 myself but these days I prefer those games over P3 and 4.

@ratchet200  I really thought the OSTs for Persona 1 and Persona 2 on PS1 were way better than the ones on P3 and P4.

@Nintendo_Man  I think they talked about that actually. They said they had been working on the game for a while and didn't have the resources to port it over. Hopefully it will happen though.

@IncisionX  They're gonna make a quality game. Not like those Assassin's Creed developers who shit out half baked games just to get them out each year.

@Benifited  It shouldn't be a shock for those who understand it's Atlus we're talking about. They're not filthy rich bastards like EA. PS3 should definitely do. They shouldn't try to make a PS4 version.

csward

@Def-Trex @jsmoke03  Why not both? I doesn't have to be either or. I don't want to have to go get a PS3 again for one game, especially by 2015.

@enoughofthis @FKlepackiFTW @LickTheEnvelope  Nyx is a cop out rip off of Pandora from Persona 1. They needed to give the goddess of night a manly voice and a huge sword to make her look believable. Pandora didn't need any of that.

P1 and P2 storyline intertwined >>>>> P3 > P4
