Persona 4 Arena hits US this summer

Fighting spin-off to Atlus' long-running role-playing game series confirmed for international release on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

American fans of the Persona Japanese role-playing game series can start working on their reflexes, as Atlus today announced it is bringing the fighting game spin-off Persona 4 Arena to US stores this summer.

The creators of Guilty Gear and BlazBlue provide their own spin on Persona.

Set for release on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, Persona 4 Arena is a 2D fighting game developed by Arc System Works, the studio behind the Guilty Gear and BlazBlue series. The developer's latest effort continues the story that began in Persona 4 and includes characters in that game, as well as Persona 3.

This is not the first time Arc System Works has turned someone else's franchise into a fighting game. The studio also made fighters based on a pair of popular manga/anime series, Fist of the North Star and Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan. However, neither of those efforts saw release in the West.

I would have preferred a Persona 5 as opposed to this...

If Atlus throws in a soundtrack like they do with most of their first batch releases, then I'm sold. Also it's amazing to me how unique the Persona 4 theme looks; you can just see a picture and instantly tell it apart.

Wow I was expecting a Q4 release at the very least. Atlus just surprises me more and more in a good way.

This further cements the fact that this is a great year for fighters and JRPGs. Simple as that!

This may be the best thing to happen to me so far in my life. Thanks to Persona 3 I learned about how awesome the Shin Megami games are, and I even got the awesome pentagram tattoo on my shoulder. I also love just about every fighting game out there, except Way of the Warrior. Nothing else in the world could even come close to great this is. Hopefully the Persona 3 cast will shoot themselves in the head when using their personas. Now bring this out for the Vita as well, so I can own it on 3 different platforms.

Wow, I'm impressed. This actually looks like it's going to be really good. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised though, considering who's working on it.

Shame I'm terrible at fighting games, but there's no way I'm not getting this!

Something to keep me entertained before the next major BlazBlue release!

I'll buy it when it's on sale. Steam has spoiled me too much to pay full price for anything.

Great news! Love Arc Systems Works. I'm glad to see it's coming to Xbox 360. I actually have an arcade stick for that system.

I am going to buy the holy **** out of this game and play it to DEATH. Just look at those lush 2D graphics. As good or better than Blazblue but nothing is beating King of Fighters XIII. POWAH GEYSER!!!

Heh, I'm actually look forward to this. Best of all this game actually takes skill to be good at. Now if only NIS would get "inspired" and do one for that Disgaea series...

So wait, Persona 4 Arena is getting a X360 release in the US? Does that mean I can get my hopes up that Persona 5 will see a multi-platform release as well?

As for being a long time fan of the franchise; I'm loving this even though I hate fighting games. My dream is to see the day that an Anime-style/Action-RPG will rise in platform gaming (Reckoning disappointed me). Sounds ludicrous but its possible; I'm thinking P5. Atlus being as @ZeroX91 said, "one of the few companies that still give a **** about the fans.", will it actually break its own barrier and give us a brand new approach in P5 or will P5 just another turn-based RPG that only us fan will like.
