People are selling Xbox One "Day One" Achievements on eBay

Special Achievement included with limited edition Day One consoles going for $30-$60 on auction site.

Multiple listings for the special "Day One" Achievement included with the commemorative Xbox One consoles have appeared on eBay (via Kotaku), following the system's launch yesterday.

The Achievement is available via download code, meaning anyone can redeem it. At press time, numerous listings are available with prices in the range of $30-$60.

Xbox One Day One consoles were available only to those who preordered a system. In addition to the special Achievement, the commemorative version includes a specially branded controller.

The Xbox One launched yesterday in 13 territories around the world and sold more than 1 million units during its first day. Sony's PlayStation 4 achieved the same 24-hour sales milestone, though that system is currently only available in North America.

Is there any way of determining the actual names of those people who purchased these achievements?  Like through Microsoft or something possibly?

Wouldn't that be hilarious for you to personally know someone who purchased this and be able to rag on them for doing so?  ;)

Who the hell is dumb enough to buy an achievement for $60? Thats just a waste of money...

Has anyone checked and noticed that the PS4 is sell for around $700 on ebay, roughly the same as the Xbox1 which cost $100 more.  I checked because I was thinking of selling my xbox 1 but after the fees and hassle factor was just not worth making $50...but to make it on the goofy day one achievement...Genius.......

Wish I hadn't scanned mine now, but who'd have thought people would be dumb enough to pay for an achievement?

I used mine to see if code scanning is as fast as MS suggested.

It is, by the way.

All you need is a platform and a lack of ethics, and you can make money off people so easily.

I'd just keep the $30-$60 and use it for a game instead.

They should link Google Helpouts with the Xbone or PS4 so rich kids can pay someone else to play for them to improve scores, unlock stuff, or get achievements and do stuff they can't do on their own lol.

Ok, got a good story for you on how stupid people are with money when comes to a new console.........

True story, happened on launch day early hours Friday morning in Rugby, England....

So this guy staggers into Game shop in Rugby, drunk as hell, swearing and being as obnoxious as only a drunk can be. After swearing at the shop assistants for about 30 mins they eventually sell the fool his Xbone and is escorted out of the shop and on his merry way by the shops security......

Now fast forward to about 11am that same morning, and who walks into the shop asking for Xbone? Yeah you guessed it, the drunk from earlier that morning, on his way home from the shop he fell over and lost his brand new Xbone and a game some where and can't remember where .......lmfao.....

On a complete side note the commercial for the video up above was for the Doritos Xbox One deal.  The guy says "want to win an Xbox One?" so I listened.  He then said "Doritos is auctioning off an Xbox One every 2 minutes between 9pm and 2am... and is sold to the highest bidder."  That's not winning an Xbox One.  That's called buying an Xbox One.  You win the auction.

It's not even worth points....I don't believe I have it but not sure it's any points.

"People are selling Xbox One "Day One" Achievements" And the moronic, generic, casual, console gamer in desperate need of a lobotomy, buys them.

If I had one of these codes, I would sit on it for a couple of years; let the price mature a little.

If you're ever feeling depressed about your life, you can either go people watching a your local Wal-Mart or think about the losers buying achievements on eBay.

Can you trade-in achievements for cool items?  Because this is pretty stupid.

If anyone was a big enough loser to ACTUALLY PAY MONEY for this they need to be taken out the back and shot.

Absolute and complete moron.

I hope you straight up die, because you are tainting our gene pool.

Also... the "Day one" on the controller is not cool at all.

I never cared about achievements, and i still don't. TBH, i would've probably done something like this xD

Mr_Big_Boss

Sounds like something I would do. When I bought my PS3, it came with 2 free games. I sold both games for about $70 bringing the cost of my system down.

These guys are just trying to reduce the cost they paid for the Xbox One.

ZeRo2545

This is a win/win for everybody. The people selling the codes understand that most achievements these days aren't really achievements and don't really care about a piece of text that logs your inevitable actions you do and just play games to have fun. The people buying have a compulsion to have as much progression and as many things unlocked as humanly possible and need to fulfil their compulsion that is part of their nature.

It's win/win.

zyxahn

That's weak.  I would be careful though, that's not a whole lot of money to take and not give the code for it.  I must say I am a bit pissed now that anyone who has it may not have a day one console.  I love achievements damnit, they can't be bought can they !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So if I watch somebodys achivements and he does have this one but no other xBone achivements this year I know he's an idiot who paid for it?

@RobDev I bought one specifically for you to 'shoot me' over because I think you don't possess the stones nor indeed a firearm required to 'shoot me'.

@Mr_Big_Boss No issue with the guys selling it, great idea. Just the complete losers that would buy them. Games are one thing an "achievement" that you didn't actually do is beyond pathetic

FLEEBS
FLEEBS

@stoney28z @dbene No you didn't. It is an achievement that is worth ZERO points. There is absolutely no value attached to the achievement. I was a little annoyed about that when I scanned mine in.

RobDev
RobDev

@sofalover Oh my god. What an unbelievable loser you are. One of two things happened. Either you are too fucking stupid to recognise a euphemism when you see one and are lying about something in some retarded attempt to intimidate some one on the internet you'll never meet making some pseudo macho fucking brain dead comment about stones or you literally spent actual real money buying an achievement for something you didn't actually do. I'm not sure which one is more sadly pathetic. You complete douchebag

cbreseman
cbreseman

@jefferson1964 @FLEEBS @stoney28z @dbene Yeah, I dunno.  I agree that people are wasting their money over a 1G achievement.  But... at the same time, I made sure to grab one of the very limited Day One editions in my area, so I am damn proud of that achievement.

Further... I'd bet a dollar to a donut that if Microsoft does a limited release console for the XBox One in the future for loyal customers (like they did with the XBox 360 either a year or year and a half ago), that they will be looking to see that A) they have/had a Day One console registered and B) that particular achievement.  So while I might get $30 for it, and possibly a great used game, I could as easily display my pride and not be, possibly, screwing myself out of a future deal.

On a side note... I wish we could use some of these damn awesome achievement tiles as wallpaper.  I mean some of these are damn art.  You can tell the developer put effort into their achievement tiles or not.  And I wish we could reward them by using our favorites as wallpaper.

@FLEEBS @stoney28z @dbene wrong its worth ONE point....yep scanned mine checked it and got ONE point...id sold mine for $50 had I thought dummies would buy it, but after ebay and paypal fees you may get $30 if your lucky to sell for $50....1 freaking point I just had to laugh...but the Kinect scan feature works great......
