Remember when Konami and Ubisoft teamed up for that Assassin's Creed crossover in Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker for the PSP earlier this month? It turns out, that wasn't a joke. Reminiscent of Volition's inclusion of the Ostrich Hammer in Red Faction: Guerrilla, series creator Hideo Kojima announced as part of a press conference in Japan today that Peace Walker will feature a number of referential crossovers from big-name franchises--including Assassin's Creed.

As reported by Japanese gaming site Andria Sang, Snake will be able to perform the Assassin's Creed-esque eagle dive during specific stages in Peace Walker. The move sees the stealthy protagonist swan diving into an "Assassin's Straw Box," which Snake can then use as movable cover similar to his hallmark cardboard box.

Konami has also teamed with Capcom to include elements of the latter publisher's monstrously popular Monster Hunter series in Peace Walker. During the course of the game, players will be able to travel to "an island where there're lots of rare creatures." There, Snake will face off against a number of Monster Hunter's beasts and will be aided by the Felyne assist character.

One other collaboration, Square Enix said that Peace Walker will also synch up with is its upcoming mech-based action game Front Mission Evolved. Though details were sparse, players will apparently be able to use items from Front Mission Evolved in Peace Walker.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is set to arrive for the PSP in North America on June 8. For more information, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.
