PCs, PSPs go off-roading with THQ

Rainbow Studios putting the wheels on two racers from MX vs. ATV series; announcement marks debut of franchise on both platforms.

Four-wheeling frenzy will be taking on two new courses, as publisher THQ today announced that the MX vs. ATV franchise will ride onto the PC and PSP, both uncharted territory for the series. Rainbow Studios, based out of Phoenix, Arizona, will head the projects' development.

MX vs. ATV Unleashed: On the Edge for the PSP and MX vs. ATV Unleashed for the PC are both expected to hit the road in early 2006. The PSP version will support wireless multiplayer play, while the PC edition will feature eight-player online support and a track editor. Both games will feature a variety of vehicles, minigames, racing modes, and off-road courses.

Rating and pricing information for both games has not yet been released.

Why did you first two post if you dont like the game? Save it for people who have something to say. As for myself, I think any game that is on both PC and PSP is just asking to shot. It's not like Xbox/PS2 games, or PC/Xbox, but a protable and PC? Why not the Xbox? Why not the PS2? Who knows maybe it will be fun. But four player split screen with Xbox Live support would be better than online play on a portable that 3 people actually play online with. Also, the track editor is a dangerous place to roam, its all or nothing. TrackMania Sunrise wrote the book on track editors, and if it's not at least as good, it'l be punished.(If you like cars, racing or crazy stunt tracks at all, and you havent played Sunrise, your missing out.) But who knows? The idea sounds good, so lets wait and see if anything interesting happens.

I never got around to playing MX vs ATV on the PS2, so maybe I'll pick up the PSP version assuming they won't totally botch it. I trust THQ not to make a crappy game.
