PC version of The Division won't be a simple port of the Xbox One and PS4 iterations

"We are working hard and we want to make sure that we have a very high-quality experience on PC," Ubisoft Massive says.

The PC version of Splinter Cell game The Division will not be a simple port of the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions, Massive Entertainment said recently as part of a fan Q&A posted to the game's website.

"As you know, Massive has its roots in PC development. We are working hard and we want to make sure that we have a very high quality experience on PC," the developer said. "You can be sure that our PC version won’t be a port, but a full-fledged, optimized version! We want to create the best game possible regardless of what platform you play on."

The Malmo, Sweden-based Ubisoft Massive (formerly Massive Entertainment) created the PC-focused Ground Control and World in Conflict strategy franchises.

The Division launches in fall 2014 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Ubisoft said recently that its proprietary Snowdrop Engine will deliver an unprecedented level of realism.

Theres no need to port... as consoles and pcs having same architecture now..

As long as they make it like the next gen console versions then it will sell, BUT if they do this port like the other two "ports" of Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter then it might get some backlash from certain people that remember that series of games! Hopefully they don't screw this job up like they did with those two games!

Yeah. You can't port Console to PC anymore. Its just the opposite now.

I though the console version would be a simple port from the PC version.

ooh "full fledged and optimized version!"  Sounds like PR BS rhetoric to me.  I'm willing to bet the PC version won't be any different than the console.  At best it'll get a res bump that only current high end rigs can pull off.

They said the same shit with Assassins Creed IV and the game works like crap if you don't have one of NASA's computers

Tom Clancy is dead yo! Use this engine to make something interesting or good!

All next gen games should always start development on a high end pc with the maximum amount of graphics, AI, level design, etc., then ported to the consoles.  It makes no sense to develop on a low end system then port it over to a high end system.  Also, stop making games for last gen systems.

Well , a good game motto.

Tom Clancy's - The Division : What happens when Rainbow Six fails, when the Ghosts aren’t enough, or when the Splinter Cells are gone?

Am I the only one who noticed the words "Splinter Cell game"? Since when will this any way, shape or form be related to Splinter Cell? And yes, I am aware both are Tom Clancy games.

It's about time they released a new video for this, I have watched this one countless times (well the start of it before i realise it's the same vid then turn  it off...)

Considering that the PS4 and XONE are basically PCs anyway, this shouldn't be too hard to accomplish.

So there will be loot or not ? I wont buy this game if PVP is not "lose items when you die"

It'll be a few extra snowflakes and some ridiculous smoke effect.

God to hear even though I will be playing this on Xbox One. Ports are cheap and the easy way out.

so .... can GTX 770 run this game on high settings ?

Nice, glad I recently updated my PC, the Snowdrop Engine looks amazing, I wouldn't doubt if it get's used in other Ubisoft games at least or if they want to let third parties license it out like Unreal Engine it could be used to make some great games.

Who out there actually expected less? I never expect the PC version of any title to be a "simple port". Even if control is somehow exactly the same, I know the graphics on a whole will be much nicer (or rather, have the potential to be).

To be fair Ubisoft games normally look far better on the pc than the peasant boxes.

Why does Eddie Makuch think this is Splinter Cell....or did I miss something in the Tom Clancy Universe.?

@Creed02  they use similar architecture but PC will always be more advanced

consoles use APU's like laptops but a desktop PC that is maxed out is a hell of a lot better than even the PS4

I do like the PS4 and sony did an amazing job with it but PC will be able to handle more and look better

@plm3d_basic the average consumer doesn't even buy next gen consoles till they've been out for a year or longer. It would be stupid for a company to stop developing games for the systems they'd still be making more money on. Also the average consumer doesn't own a high end PC, so there's no point in them developing games just for the high end market (which they most likely wouldn't be able to port) as there's way more people in the middle and lower class.

@theKSMM That comment is so wrong on so many levels... The specs of the PS4 and Xbox One are already out of date.... an xbox can't even go on the damn internet without paying for xbox gold... etc, etc.. Perhaps research isn't your forte...

@Gears_0f_L0ve This is an Online PVP / PVE game. There is no way to put it on "workshop"

I hope by "amped up" you mean saving every penny you earn to afford a new Gaming rig or expensive upgrades just to play this...

JOMMY999
JOMMY999

@maniacalpoet  It does not mean PC will look better, PC run on laptop or low-end won't look as good as PS4 or XB1 anyway. if you run on high end PC then you get benefit to use the power of GPU as the game will optimized to it hardware.

altair-ezio
altair-ezio

@Iamshmee @plm3d_basic  no. they would develop it with 1920x1080 resolution and everything maxed out and then dull things down like the shadows and shading etc. for the consoles

and ps4 sold 6 million consoles so that's a good majority, if they stopped making games for last-gen, it would force them to buy next-gen consoles and then they could just focus on making everything look extra nice

Gravity_Slave
Gravity_Slave

@ahztek @theKSMM

Actually hes more right than you care to admit.  Not every PC elitist is sitting at home with a brand new gaming rig.  Most are on older systems that they built over a year ago.  The current gen consoles are every bit as good as those if not better.  They are PC quality with hardware that can compete.  Think about it, not more than a year ago, last gen console (that are 8-9 years old BTW) have been competing successfully with current gen PC's.

Fursnake

@Gravity_Slave@Fursnake

That's kind of an odd thing to "hope" for.

I earn enough to not have to save every penny I earn to afford a new gaming rig or expensive upgrades.

And wouldn't you know it, I'm just waiting on one final component before putting together a semi-new build.

bernard978
bernard978

@tsquared44 @bernard978 I just hope they don't go one way or the other, I mean if Ubisoft's history is anything to go by, it'll have Physx so my GTX 770 would do well but it sucks if it has issues with AMD.

Iamshmee
Iamshmee

@altair-ezio @Iamshmee @plm3d_basic  6 million doesn't equivalate to even a 10th of any last generation unit sold. If they stopped selling last gen games, They're not gonna make more money on 6 million consoles as compared to 80 million, so it would be moronic to just drop development of titles and hope everyone will pull $4-500+ out of their ass to buy only next gen.
They have to cater to the majority audience while slowly building up a user base for these new consoles and finiding a way to make them more affordable to the general public. Lets face it, the general public is pretty damn poor.

altair-ezio
altair-ezio

@Gravity_Slave @ahztek @theKSMM  the whole point of comparing consoles to PC is only if you're talking about maxed out PCs

and there's no point of having a mediocre PC if you're intending to game with it because they can't run most modern games so you might as well get a console

altair-ezio
altair-ezio

@Fursnake @Gravity_Slave  it's around 700$ to build a good-great PC (which isn't that much if you think about it)

the best thing to do is just order a couple parts at a time ..... patience
