PC Advanced Warfighter advances on factory

New edition of latest Ghost Recon game goes gold with original graphics engine, levels, PhysX card support.

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon series is poised to return to the platform from which it came, as Ubisoft today announced that Advanced Warfighter for the PC has gone gold.

Though it bears the same name and general story as the Xbox 360 hit, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter for the PC has a number of distinct differences. It was developed by Swedish studio GRIN, for one, and features its own graphics engine. It also sports all-new levels, a strictly first-person perspective, and support for Aegia's new PhysX processor. The PlayStation 2 and Xbox versions of GRAW were also substantially different from the heavily hyped Xbox 360 edition and received substantially poorer reviews.

For a look at the new graphics engine in action, check out the latest official trailer for the PC version. Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter for the PC is rated T for Teen and will retail for $49.99.

I own the 360 game and it is awsome. I don't think this version will be any different.

Higher Performance most likely ends up with better score... Although mouse and keyboard aren't always best for some people

I'm having a blast with the 360 version already. Bring it on!

Nice. With support for the PhysX card this is going to beat the console versions hands down!

GRAW on the PC. Hmmm...if the game is like the 360 version, that would be a good time (excuse) to upgrade to a new system.

hopefully this won't feel like a console-piece-of-crap-game (like halo pc, although i still enjoy halo pc)

So who is buying one of those $299 physics accelerators anytime soon to use in games like this? I wonder how much of a difference they will make in the 1st batch of games to utilize them.

You can get some -sweet- deals on GeForce 7800 GT (note the "GT") cards in 256-meg flavors nowadays -- just look for 'em! They're a very happy place for good affordability and consistent performance in heavy duty games. I got a free motherboard with mine (eVGA brand) with the cash I saved I splurged for a second 7800 GT, to complete a pretty beefy little SLI machine (also an AMD FX-55 cpu). Not tops right now, granted, but it eats stuff like Oblivion and FEAR for breakfast at 1600x1200. I like this.

since it's a different game, anyone actually plan to play both the PC and Xbox360 versions?

WIth the PhysX card installed the visuals in this game are going to far beyond any else seen before. Firing a Grenade into a Truck doesnt make a bunch of sprites and and smoke spray out, instead, hundreds of peices of actual debris that used to make up the truck shoot out realistically and obey the laws of physics. Bullet impacts on metal or other surfaces actually damage them 3d ect. High level hardware such as 2gb of ram, decent CPU, and a 78/79 and 18/19 series card will own this game up at max quality. The x1900xtx is basically a xbox360+1. So if you have anything around there expect to run it at 16x12 max settings. Can't wait. 4000+, 2gbs XMS, 1900xtx, gg.

With Ubisoft swearing off Starforce, this game is worth checking out again. :)

Just so you know the 360 version also has a FP camera view you dont have to use over the shoulder. I can't get enough of GRAW on 360 :)

I predict a lower score because it won't be for everyone as it seems to head back to the heavily tactical, but sometimes less fun gameplay behind GR1.

You will need a High End PC to match the X360 graphics.
