Payday: The Heist delayed

Overkill Software's $20 PSN and PC squad-based shooter now set for "later this month"; game headed to final review and certification.

Gamers hoping to rob a bank, break out of jail, and steal a car in Overkill Software's Payday: The Heist are going to have to wait a bit longer to do so. The developer has announced that the game's PlayStation Network and PC debut has been pushed from today to "later this month."

Say hey Payday delay.

According to an update on Overkill Software's website, the developer held fast to the hope it would ship Payday: The Heist on time, but that reality has slipped away. The developer said the $20 game is "literally done" and is now being reviewed for final certification.

A squad-based first-person shooter, Payday: The Heist lets gamers don their patriotic insane clown masks and engage in bank robberies, jailbreaks, and carjackings. The game was also the promised freebie for players who purchased all four of the games in Sony's PSN Play promotion in August and September.

Will give me time to finish Rage (PC and problem-free) -really looking forward to Payday: The Heist- something different (concept). Hopefully it will be well optimized for PC -m/kb.

Graphics looks delayed too. :-) Just kidding of course... gotta give Indie shops a break.

@tbf2 : This would make a great multiplayer game, but not a good universal game. SWAT should've come in waves and police officers should've stand back when they know the player has hostages, but instead they just storm the front of the bank trying to be killed. On another note, the SWAT entries are too loud. While trying to disarm SWAT storming through the windows (Bank Job), some SWAT should've used airducts or elevators, or maybe add a SWAT sniper.

I like the concept of this game, but i wish it was more stand-off and less shooting. I liked playing criminals in the early SWAT games because it really felt like a stand-off. From what I've seen of Heist, you'll be under constant attack.

why not let them take there time. i rather support a indie game maker then a big money greedy publisher that contracts big budget game makers that ends up making a game for $59 and still its crap, bad support, and really short.

I've been following this on Steam. My backlog, which is considerable, will easily keep me busy until this one is ready.

I don't mind a delay as long as it's for the better. Can't wait to do some crime!

I'm actually intrigued to see how this game turns out. Almost looks like a Left 4 Dead with bank robberies. I can wait the extra few weeks :)
