Payday 2 no longer a digital-exclusive

OverKill Software's heist-themed action game coming to retail worldwide this August for Xbox 360 and PS3; PC version will be available on Steam.

Payday 2 will launch this August globally at retail for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, developer Overkill Software announced today. Previously, the game was confirmed for a digital-only release on Xbox Live, PlayStation Network, and PC.

"We have a bit of a problem here at Overkill--there are just too many great ideas and none that we were really happy to throw out--so Payday 2 has become just too big to reserve release on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network alone," game director David Goldfarb said in a statement.

The PC version of Payday 2 will remain a digital-exclusive and will be available through Steam.

Payday 2 includes a number of features not found in 2011's original Payday: The Heist, including a skill and progression system. In addition, the game features four different professions, each with its own unique abilities.

When they do make a retail version they should add the first title in it.

if this game is going to be 60$ the graphics and animations better be top notch. because now this is competing with Last of Us in the summer and i dont want to spend 120$ when im good with at least one of these games.

Seems a bit too villainous for my tastes. I like being a nice guy when I play games.

This better not be $60 now that it will be released at retail. Know your product and your audience, few people will pick this up for more than $15-$20.

watched the dev gameplay video and I must say it's the stupidest shit I've seen in a long time. The whole premiss for the game is just dumb. Naturally, will not support this developer.

I bought the first one on Steam only to discover it has no controller support. I'll be skipping this one.

I'll probably get the disc version of Payday 2 on PS3 when it hits £20. I can't see myself getting it for anymore than £10 on PC though.

Just wanted to say that "Payday" sounds exactly the same as "peidei", which in Portuguese means "I farted".

I wish I could see the numbers for its sales in Brazil. I doubt any other game has ever enjoyed this level of unintentional free marketing in here as this game did. XD

@Hezzron73 You won't play a PC game because it has no controller support? Dude, you're playing on PC, you use your keyboard and mouse. Go back to your console.

@RealFabioSooner I'm willing to bet in brazil it's probably translated to the portugese equivalent.  Probably to avoid your inane comment.

@Rune_Highwind @Hezzron73

Sometimes games are more suitable for controllers, and i find games more fun with my controller anyway. If he wants what PC fanboys rave about"better graphics" with an xbox controller, what's the problem?

@Random_Virus @RealFabioSooner Ha! You wish. There was a time when some IP names were translated to reach a broader audience, but nowadays foreign companies insist that the English name is used regardless. Probably because registering and securing the copyrights in Brazil is a bureaucratic nightmare. I wouldn't bother with it.
