Patched Oblivion still dupe-able

Gamers find roundabout ways to exploit 360 game's glitches; popular bow-and-arrow method modified for duplicating items.

Pit millions of crafty gamers against an overcaffeinated crew of game developers, and gamers will almost always come out on top. The latest patch for the popular PC and Xbox 360 game, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, was released to the public to fix some bugs that prevented certain quests from being completed and to address performance issues, but it also fixed an exploit that some gamers were fond of. The exploit in question let certain items be duplicated out of thin air, thus decreasing the difficulty level of the game. However, according to About.com, even an up-to-date copy of Oblivion for the Xbox 360 can yield a bounty of duped items. As detailed by the Web site, using arrows and a timely punch can keep a fresh supply of cloned potions on hand. It is unclear whether this trick works for the PC version.

The glitch in the Imperial City is gone now. IMO if you want to cheat in a single player game, then the more power too you, games are supposed to be fun? and messing around with glitches can be pretty damn fun some times, just don't do it online.

Yes, you can still dupe items with the bow and arrow method, it may take a few tries but it still works. Don't know about the money glitch in Imperial City though.

well if you beat it and you have nothing to do its fun to drop paint brushes on the ground and see how high you can go i made this a game with my friends to see who could get the highest. I nead the iteam duping glitch so i could get enough paint brushes.

There was this kewl glitch in some guy named Dorian's house. If you go in and face his basement door then just walk backward then you'll fall through a never endin hole until you walk forward.

Personally, I don't mind if people want to dupe. It's their game, they can do what they want. People may say they are ruining the game, but maybe to these people it's an improvement. I used to dupe silly things for entertainment, a bit like that watermelon video. It really doesn't matter, seeing as different people want different experiences out of a game. That's my opinion anyway.

I want somebody or Gamespot preferably to address the issue of the patch. The patch does NOT fix problems for games already in progress and I think somebody needs to report that and hold Bethseda accountable for it. I'm selling the game today, I was hopeful that I would continue playing, but I'm not starting over 100+ in. That is just ridiculous.

Though sometimes a glitch gets by developers, but don't sell them short! They put cheats in to see who's crafty enough to find them.

It'll always amaze me how people find these things.

Here's how I look at it. Duping can be fun. One example is that when I got kicked out of the mage's guild, I protested by duping 400 watermellons in front of each guild's entry so that no one could enter or leave. Duping can also be used to make the game easier. Theres plenty of examples of this: duping potions, duping magic items while at full charge, duping soul gems, and plenty more. It's up to the player to dupe or not, and whether to use it to do fun things or to make the game easier. This is a 1 player game where duping effects no one else but the player. Do whatever yopu want in the game, as long as it makes the game fun for you. Wanna dupe tons of items to sell so you can have tons of money and buy a house so that you dont have to spend hours farming dungeons? If that makes the game more fun for you, feel free to do it. My point is that duping and other forms of cheating are OK in one-player games where the only person effected is the person doing the cheating. The only time cheating is wrong is when its a mutliplayer game and you effect others and get an advantage over them by cheating. So in closing, stop telling people off for duping. They are doing it to make the game more fun for themelves, AND HAVING FUN IS THE POINT OF A VIDEOGAME. If you don't dupe because it makes playing the game a better experience and allows you to have more fun, that's fine too.

why even use cheats.i think it ruins the fun and challenge in the game.

Whoever does duplicate items and money is basically a cheater in my eyes and I do not like it sorry to say. I believe that takes the fun out of the game then when all you do is duplicate items and money and thus makes the game a hell of a lot easier when you have 99999999 money and like 999 of a certain item like potion of healing. I don't wanna cheat and I respect the others who play this game that don't cheat either.

This method is for gamers who HAVE downloaded the automatic Oblivion patch from Xbox Live. 1, Equip any number of arrows, a number divisible by ten is advised. With no weapon equipped, look at the floor and punch it by pressing the Right Trigger. 2, Quickly, before the punch has been completed, press the B button to access the inventory screen. 3, Select the arrows which are equipped and press A to attempt to un equip them, you will receive a message saying you cannot do this because you are attacking. 4, Select the item you wish to duplicate and press X to drop and duplicate the item. 5, Pick up your loot. Special note on this method: It is recommended that you use numbers of items which are divisible by ten. Example: 50 arrows to duplicate 10 lock picks. By doing this, you can do two things: decrease the amount of time you have to spend picking the items up, because they will be bundled, and increase the duplication rate if you have more than one of the same item to duplicate.

The only glitch i use is the Shadowmere one. I won't cheat to win and be all godly. Thats what my brother does.

Bloodhawk_DX

All I gotta say is let people use glitches as they like. It's all about the game experience. If they lessen it for themselves, then let them do that.

The only one your fooling by cheating, is yourself. But i do wish i didnt have to replenish all the items with soulgems all the time.. its getting on my nerve, i wonder why they removed the "infinate charge" on items from morrowind...

eh... who cares really... if people want to cheat i say let em... it just ruins the experience... but it's up to the individual game player

miiiguel

Yeah..., I mean..., it can be fun if you already completed the game "proprely". But as I play in a 360, and I've been playing for 120 hours now, and didn't finished it yet (I'll do all the GS questes, and many, many side ones), and I've already bought the Orriel mages quest, I'm not seeing myself cheating. But anyone should do what they feel like. Anyway..., and not intending to sound pretentious I do not cheat, it sure doesn't make me better, nor having more fun, it's feels like stealing or getting something with no effort.

ryanspetz

its not sad...depends on why you are duplicating. I like to duplicate Apothesis and then kill entire cities for fun. The dupping adds a dimension to an otherwise awesome game. i also have floors made of precious gems as is only fitting for my god-like character to walk on...I can't be expected to just walk on cobblestones...I only walk on emeralds or better these days. And if you cover an entire town in Varla stones, it is quite beautiful at night.

miiiguel

C'mon people, if you like to cheat in a game like Oblivion fine, but it is sad... . No one sucks at Oblivion if has minimum brain-cells... . But it's true I really don't care..., still... it's sad... :)

royevans111691 if you need to cheat on this game go back to rts' you weak mother (beep) Yes, because RTS's are a lot easier then this game. Yes, it's so much easier to controll a vast army instead of a single person. So much easier to worry about what kind of force the enemy has built up how to plan your defences and so on. Oblivion is **** compared to an RTS game. So they can still dupe items, then what exactly did this patch do? cause other then fixing "Broken" missions (unless you already started them then the awnser is to start over completly dumbass) and the duping items (which I don't even get why it needed fixing, who was it hurting exactly in this OFFLINE SINGLE PLAYER game? I could understand if it was an MMORPG style then yeah Duping would need to go but it's a single player offline game.

you guys are missing the point. Most people don't dupe to cheat they dupe for the fun of it. If you have never completly(and i mean completley) filled the merchants inn with watermelon you won't know what i'm talking about.

The only time i cheat on Oblivion is if I'm about to die when I didn't save anytime before then. I just put in tgm for godmode. But that's it. Nothing else.

spydrman5472

Why do people care who cheats and who doesn't? Those that cheat have purchased the product and are allowed to do with it as they see fit. If you don't wanna cheat, then so be it, but don't rip on those that do, especially in forums like this. It's all opinion and it's all choice, so let it go. OOO you choose to play the game without multiplying items, good for you, others don't, good for them. As has been stated before, Oblivion is an offline game and therefore cheating in your own game doesn't have any effect on anyone else's. So what is the big fuss about? And because I know it will get said about me, yes, I do choose to do the multiply cheat when i need a fresh set of cure disease potions (forget ever becoming a vampire, too much hassle for my liking). But it's the way I have chosen to play the game and I couldn't care less what you all choose to think of me. It doesn't make you a better person or anything. It's still fun to me and that's what matters. Lest we all forget, it's a friggin' videogame, people!

but i love to duplicate. after u beat the game and get to about level 23 there is not much to do cuz u pwn everything. cloning makes the game fun when it gets boring. i love filling a shop up with diamonds all the way past my boots. then running and hitting the ground with a sword. i makes a snow storm of diamonds.

I used the dupe arrow trick on garlic, nightshade, and grand sould gems, in order to save time in curing myself of vampirism after the patch on the PC.

This cheat has a cool effect. I've never used it for another reason (by the time I found out about it I was level 40, I had no need)

Well that was some patch. I myself am not one for cheating, so I definitely haven't taken advantage of this glitch, nor ever will. It's Oblivion, why ruin the experience, by cheating?
