Pac-Man Smash trademark registered

European trademark hints at Namco Bandai building new installment in long-running yellow chomper franchise.

Namco Bandai has filed a trademark for "Pac-Man Smash" (via Siliconera) hinting that the company is building a new entry in the classic franchise.

What's the yellow chomper up to next?

The trademark was filed through the Trademarks and Designs Registrations Office of the European Union, and notes that Pac-Man Smash could take many forms. These include handheld electronic games, playthings, toys and dolls, and gymnastic and sporting articles.

The listing does not shed further light on the project, and as of press time, Namco Bandai had not responded to GameSpot's request for comment.
