Original Call of Duty 4 Dev to Activision: "Don't F**K Up" Remaster

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is one of the most memorable games ever, so fans might have been happy when Activision announced it was remastering the 2007 shooter. Now, one of the developers behind the original game has revealed he told developers working on the project not to "f**k it up."

"I told them--don't f*** it up," Vince Zampella said with a laugh in an interview with Eurogamer. "That's my on the record response. I rang them up and said, honestly, don't f**k it up. It's a huge part of people's gaming memories."

Zampella and Jason West founded Infinity Ward in the early 2000s. They were fired by Activision in 2010 for insubordination and later sued the company in a case that was eventually settled. The pair went on to establish Titanfall studio Respawn, though West would later leave the company.

GameSpot's Modern Warfare 4 review scored the game a 9/10. We also said the title helped 2007 become one of the best years ever in gaming.

"With Modern Warfare, developer Infinity Ward moved the series away from the World War II setting, and into the modern day, creating one of the most explosive and action-packed shooter campaigns of all time," editor Mark Walton said.

The multiplayer also pushed the franchise, and the industry overall, forward with its great selection of maps, 18-player combat, kill streaks, perks, and a full RPG-like ranking and class system.

The new version of Modern Warfare, which is called Modern Warfare Remastered, is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The only way to get it is to buy one of the premium versions of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, which start at $80.

Infinite Warfare is being developed by Infinity Ward, while Activision subsidiary Raven Software is working on Modern Warfare Remastered. The remaster includes the original game's full campaign, complete with better visuals. Multiplayer is also included, but there are only going to be 10 maps.
