Set in 1560, an age of civil war in Japan when Nobunaga Oda ruled, Capcom's highly anticipated Onimusha: Warlords will bring Resident Evil gameplay to the medieval age. The story is based on the history of feudal Japan, though several liberties will be taken to add spice to the story.

Flagship, Yoshiki Okamoto's company, is developing Onimusha's script. You play as Samanosuke, a samurai warrior. Your cousin, a young princess, has been kidnapped, and to save her, you must explore an ominous castle. In typical Resident Evil fashion, this castle will include an abundance of traps, puzzles, and other obstacles.

You can enhance your weapons by attaching elemental gems to your gauntlet, allowing you to imbue your attacks with fire, thunder, or wind. Not only will this be used for attacks, but some puzzles can only be solved with a certain gem.

Onimusha will be released this fall in Japan, with a US release date expected to follow sometime shortly after.
