Official Grand Theft Auto V photobombing competition launched

Entrants could win a cuddly toy version of Chop.

Rockstar Games has asked players to send in original photobombed pictures taken in Grand Theft Auto V with the in-game Snapmatic camera.

"For all you compulsive shutterbugs out there, entrance into our very first Snapmatic photo contest will run from right now through till end of day Monday, November 4. With this inaugural contest theme of #EpicPhotobomb--we want to see the best photobombs you can come up with," said the developer on the Rockstar Games site.

"Whether it be a unexpectedly volatile pedestrian coming to clobber you, a scantily clad Trevor running amok in the middle of your self-satisfied selfie or a rival player causing an explosive disturbance while you calmly attempt to snap your sweet Los Santos Custom-ized hot rod--we’ll pick out five of our favorite awesomely amusing and artfully composed iFruit camera pics that fit the bill."

Rockstar adds that it will give the five winning photographers a prize pack that includes a cuddly toy version of Franklin's dog Chop.

In order to be eligible for the competition, players are required to tag their entries with the hashtag #EpicPhotoBomb through Rockstar's Snapmatic site.

Rockstar Games parent company Take-Two has now shipped 29 million copies of Grand Theft Auto V to retailers.

I was quite disappointed when I tried to take a picture and found out I couldn't without the stupid app. Just seems weird to me that a game with as much as this has, you can't even take a picture on your phone that has the take picture option without the app. Maybe it's free, but not all of us give a shit about having a smart phone.

Only 5 winners. Out of 29 million people playing. They make billions and can only afford to send out 5 of these packs. Are you kidding me.

You know GTA is getting old when gamers are forced to make up these little games and competitions when they run out of stuff to do.  I always wondered how such an open world could be so boring.  SP is fun though

The idea  of the contest is really good and has the potential to go viral. But come on, seriously, they're giving away 5 cuddly toy dogs?? Really Rockstar??

edit: oh wait, read it again... "a prize pack that includes a cuddly toy". I wonder what else this so called "prize pack" contains.

Wow a cuddly toy prize. At least the billion + bucks they made from the game is going to be spent wisely. Great prize!

@NoBullet No competition is ever designed to send out lots of prizes. The prestige of winning would be wiped out if too many got the same prize as you did.

@Gravity_Slave if you are bored in gta then you are a boring person. all the tools for a good time are there, use them imaginatively.

@ryogapower The times I tried it I couldn't. It said something about not having the app downloaded. I guess I'll try again. I haven't tried it for a while so maybe it will somehow let me do it now.

@LJNkickstarter @zeus_RO Perhaps it also includes a non-cuddly toy version of Chop. I felt it was odd that the article pointed out that the toy version would be cuddly, because that sounds like describing a FPS as being shooty.

@Hurvl @NoBullet Imagine being this defensive and protecting a billion dollar company from a innocent complaint.

@NoBullet @Hurvl So it's a competition with a crappy prize, big deal. You could say that the competition is bad and that they should have done another one with a better prize, but it's not like they have to do these contests.
