With Ghostbusters about to hit cinemas, the next big movie to receive a female-led remake is Ocean's Eleven. The project was first announced late last year, and is set to star Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett. It has now been reported that Elizabeth Banks will be joining them.

According to Showbiz 411, Banks is the latest star to sign up for the heist comedy. The film is to be directed by Gary Ross, who worked with Banks on The Hunger Games, and helmed the likes of Seabiscuit and Pleasantville. Banks is also known for the Pitch Perfect films and will soon be seen as the villainous Rita Repulsa in the upcoming Power Rangers reboot.

Last month it was rumoured that Jennifer Lawrence was also being considered, but the site now reports that this is no longer the case. It does however state that Helena Bonham Carter and Mindy Kaling are also on board.

Accord to The Tracking Board, Bullock will play the sister of Danny Ocean, the character portrayed by George Clooney in Steven Soderberg's trilogy. Soderbergh is set to produce the new movie.

The 2001 Ocean's Eleven earned $450 million worldwide, and while the two sequels were not quite as successful, they all proved to be considerable box office hits. That first film was itself a remake of the 1960 movie starring Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin.
