Tomorrow at the White House, President Obama will meet with representatives for technology giants including Microsoft and Zynga to discuss government surveillance, HealthCare.gov, and how government can partner with technology firms to grow the United States economy.

TIME political reporter Zeke Miller obtained the meeting notes for the get-together, which reveals Microsoft executive vice president Brad Smith and Zynga cofounder Mark Pincus will be in attendance. Representatives for Facebook, Apple, Comcast, Netflix, and Google will also attend the meeting.

During the conference, Obama and the tech executives will discuss progresss made in addresing performance and capacity issues with HealthCare.Gov (the site struggled mightily when it launched), as well as how government can better deliver information technology to "maximize innovation, efficiency, and customer service."

Also during the meeting, Obama and the tech leaders will address national security and the "economic impacts of unauthorized intelligence disclosures." Lastly, the President will speak with the executives about new ways that the Administration can partner with the technology sector to grow the economy, create jobs, and "address issues around incoming inequality and social mobility."

Last week, new documents from former National Security Agency (NSA) contractor Edward Snowden showed that American and British agents infiltrated World of Warcraft and Xbox Live as a means to hunt terrorists. Microsoft has since joined a coalition calling for government surveillance reform.

More like "economic impacts of having our criminal asses exposed."

And to all who think Snowden is a traitor, look in the fucking mirror.

Who cares about Obama - it is Congress that is out of control.  The President should only be a mouthpiece or cheerleader for America - they need to keep the President - ANY President - in check.  Elect better representatives next time... that is unless you love Socialism, hate Capitalism, and read Karl Marx and Neitzchi all the time - then you are in commie 1984 heaven right about now.

Basically, this is free roam for the government to lock people up even further.  All they have to do is tell the press that you were involved in either A) terrorism or B) some sort of child pornography, and BAM, you are the Public Enemy.

Oh look, Freedom's here.

Obama will congratulate them for all the willing assistance they've provided.

Does it get any worse than Microsoft and Zynga?

LOL at all the people who said the government wouldn't waist their time surveilling the people that play video games, and to get a tin foil hat for all the ones that said that they will do it. At least this gives everyone an all new meaning to his slogan of "yes we can."

I wonder if they actually accomplish anything at these obviously public, high-profile meetings for the masses? Other than shaking hands and saying a lot of stuff on podiums.

He is meeting with them to thank them and to ask for further cooperation to help increase their ability spy upon us.

The same president who said no one is listening to your phone calls and you can keep your insurance plan if you like it. And people bought it.

I will give you kiddies a bit of voting advice: It's not the color of one's skin, gender, or the party affiliation, but the fact that someone WANTS to be president of the USA, and has the power and connections to do it, tells you that they are top class scammers, liars and crooks.

Government are the biggest crooks out there, and they make their own rules. Me and you, we are just sheep that need to be managed and taxed to death and too stupid for our own good, according to them.

You are being watched whatever you do, wherever you go. Cameras in every store, every street corner. Online you are being tracked. Absolutely everything you do and see online is being tracked. You can try to erase it, but no, you really can't, even if you think you did. So you had best behave. That's not paranoia, that's reality.

"economic impacts of unauthorized intelligence disclosures." - if/when you find out we are surveying your networks and users, you will experience a drop in revenue when your users find out so you better keep it quiet.  Obama's administration has been as transparent as a brick wall.  No offense to brick walls.

And what exactly did he do to deserve the death penalty? He revealed that the government was acting against the Constitution by spying on us.

@breakitapart Why is it that Americans always link Socialism with Anti America and Anti Capitalism.

Again another American that really does't get it.

@MinerAvatar For those of us who've been paying close attention to political issues, this was expected. The current administration has continued the programs of the last, even augmented them in fact.

@Anxiety21 You are correct. However, empty platitudes notwithstanding, what gave you the impression that the Obama administration was not the direct representative of corporate-finance capital and the enemy of the working population?

Zynga: makers of the most popular Facebook games

Facebook: The biggest virtual meeting point of gullible people, also excellent place to collect their private data.

@Horndawgie

While I agree, the color of the skin/gender all of that don't mean anything.  If people are evil, they are evil.  And believe me, the White House was literally built on evil (a quick refresher in Sacred Geometry of D.C. will show you what I mean).  Any President, be it Bush, Obama or Clinton, is not out "For the People".

Also, there's a fine line between "best behavior" and "complete obedience", like a dog.  Do right in your heart and by man, and if the government ever asks you to hurt somebody else for a reason you don't know, best advice: don't do it.

So are a lot of people.  Nobody's doing anything about it though, they're just taking it.  Like 500 deaths on the evening news is normal or something... curious and curious...

@maniacalpoet

It's really obvious that the U.S. Presidency is obsolete.  Or at least believing they're out to actually help the common man.  And that's any president- Obama included.

@Dresden05 Mostly because America isn't about socialism and anyone who knows anything about socialism wouldn't ask such a dumbass question.

limbo12
limbo12

@Dresden05 Real socialism is anti-capitalist all the way down the line, and I'm ok with that because I think capitalism is balls. However, European goverments have pioneered the "social-democracy" tendency which seeks to preserve the system of exploitation embodied in capitalism while keeping the population at bay with high social welfare spending. So, in this case, you are the one confusing the traditional, Marxian conception of socialism.

@limbo12 When he stopped talking "to" the people and began to speak "at" the people!

He may not be an enemy but that's neitherherenorthere.  He's on the corporate payroll as all politicians they all have hidden agendas which become not so hidden in their last years in office or when they leave office.  It's a never ending cycle until "We the People" stand up.  Not to get all political on a gaming web site but I could go on for days.  But then again politics to me is much like religion it's all tom foolery and shenanigans!

mkeezay22

@mav_destroyer@jaoman9 Exactly Zynga is only there because of their huge amount of casual free titles and how they can use those to collect information about the people playing.

limbo12

@Grenadeh @Dresden05 From your comment, it seems you don't know anything about socialism. In fact, American workers have a long history of class struggle that you have been cut off from. I suggest you read up on it. You can start with reading up on James Cannon and the founding of the American Socialist Workers Party.

@Anxiety21 @limbo12

Actually, the Obama administration's class agenda was apparent from his first days in office when they handed billions in taxpayer dollars to the banks. Now he talks about raising the minimum wage just as congress signs off on a budget deal that will cut over $ 1 trillion in social spending.

Actually, politics is quite important. It seems like "all tom foolery and shenanigans," until one sees the class content behind a given society's political forms. In the case of American politics, both the democrats and republicans, regardless of what they say of themselves and each other, have always served the needs of capital. However, this has had devastating effects on the economy and undermined the ideals enshrined in our democracy. This service to finance-capital is continuing to erode society in a myriad of ways; that includes games as well. One can simply point to the industry's preoccupation with big, bombastic military shooters and its connection to the past 20 years of uninterrupted military intervention by the U.S. in virtually every part of the world. That militarism itself is driven by the demands of the profit system, which continually looks for and breaks into fresh, untapped markets.
