Nvidia to showcase "gaming innovations" next week at CES

Technology company to hold press conference this Sunday where it will showcase unspecified "gaming innovations."

Global technology company Nvidia will hold a press conference during the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) this Sunday, January 5, the company has announced.

During the invitation-only event, which will be broadcast live at 8 p.m. PDT, Nvidia will showcase unspecified "gaming innovations," as well as advancements to its Tegra mobile technologies and "advanced automotive display technologies."

If you're attending the event, you can visit the Nvidia booth at the Las Vegas Convention Center's South Hall 3.

Nvidia's main gaming endeavor right now is its $250 Nvidia Shield portable device, which allows users to stream select PC games and download and play various Android titles. Check out our previous coverage of the Nvidia Shield for more.

In addition to whatever Nvidia has planned for CES, the show is also expected to bring news about various Steam Machines from Valve and a variety of third-party manufactures. GameSpot will be in attendance at CES 2014, bringing you all the news from the show.

Vita seems to have no games for it that anyone mentions, I prefer 3DS.....not to be hating on the Vita, I mean, it's technically superior...

Joshua Harrison, let me know when that translates to developers making games for the PC (like the old days), rather than porting over console titles. I don't see that paradigm shifting back now that the 'next gen' is here.

I just wish there was some developers to actually developing games for more capable hardware than consoles. Can't wait Next Car Game and Star Citizen!

Games. That's the only point. Buy what makes you happy.

I don't see why people think a mouse and keyboard is the best way to play. It's uncomfortable as hell! I'll stick to controllers.

I have a Vita and most games made for it are worth playing. Stop being ignorant and look into it. Pricks.

who cares, its all integrated anyways, not like its a dedicated card, what real power are u getting from it anyways like that, unless u want to say burnout your mobo due to console lack of coolant, yah go ahead see how far that gets you. Maybe they should get a choice, either AMD, or Nvidia, that way all ass raped fans like you get what you want, and everyone else don't got to listen to you cry, and whine like a twit

considering all games are created on PC, then ported onto console, means its not pointless. Without PC u would never be able to create a single game, u really think they will waste there time making it on a XBOX, or do the simple thing and create in on PC. And if it wasn't for PC gamers buying GPUS from AMD, or a CPU from Nvivdia they would have no reason to be in business, considering console hardware are integrated and get changed every new generation, which means they would only make a new GPU or CPU every 7years when those console get upgraded . . . . . no no no its because us PC gamers who buy 2000$ GPU, or upgrade there system ever year who brings in the cash for these company's to be able to afford to make GPU for these console. A tiny as 512mb integrated chip, doesn't compare to a 1500+ gpu for a console, and I do not see any water cooled devices for console either, which people do buy and companies do make for us PC gamers, not console gamers. And STEAM BOX makes these console look like toys, considering they can fit a titan inside of it, which is console size, plays console based games, and is capable of better graphics. . console does nothing but render a game, in lowest form compared to its maker, the PC. I bet your on your PC right now as u write these comments

every operation system is derived from either windows OX, or Linux OS operating system. Both console are actually using a 8cored AMD based processor

sorry im loyal to the games, don't matter what system really as they always change, what doesn't change tho is the fact you cant get forza on PlayStation, or god of war on Xbox, giving me that ultimate choice of buying whatever console is needed. . . .

I prefer PC because I hate console controllers. That is my main reason for sticking to PC. Not because I feel I have to be "loyal" to one platform, but simple because I prefer the mouse and keyboard

Plus the 3DS was the best selling console 6 months last year.

Yea and the 3DS is the other "rival" but 3DS shits on PS Vita's sales.

A little online reading of gaming reviews and the company's own website should help you out on your question and correct your statement.

Think about that logically for a second. Why would NVIDIA refuse to supply millions of its chips? Their goal is to make money. I think they had to keep the cost of the consoles down to keep them within reach of the average console purchaser so they went with less premium cards

A little online reading should help you out on your question. As for the HD remake, I had my mind elsewhere. It's on the Wii-U, not handheld.

not game ,It is the movie Oblivion,so you understand ,its not worth for gaming.

@Brandon NVIDIA Phys-X produces way better particle physics than AMD. In fact, you can't even enable particle physics on some games like Planetside without an NVIDIA card

Jacob Leyva

Maybe they both originally went with Nvidia, but Nvidia said "no." Did you ever think of that?

Jacob Leyva

Where exactly have the gone? By the way, there are no HD remakes on any of their handhelds.

Jacob Leyva

Yeah, because it's not like there are any good games worth playing on the Vita or PSP (sarcasm).

Competition is what makes an industry innovate. That being said, I will always be in favour of where Nintendo is going with handheld gaming, their tried and true flagship games and HD remakes, and other ventures because I agree with their taste.

Brandon Klein

Actually. Nvidia fails miserably compared to ATi/ AMD when you compare color and particles. Nvidia makes a great graphics card but to someone who pays attention to detail and smooth graphic esthetics, it's AMD all the way. You can't go wrong with either one when you get high end cards, you just have to talk to the right sales person who has experience with both.

Lmao I think Dan fails to realize most his favorite games are showcased on PCs at E3. Ignorance is bliss is it not?

Great Advertisement.  Funny.  More Adult Games would be the only way to compete with the Vita.  It will be interesting to see how many developers jump on making a game for a Suped'up Phone.

Nvidia, the killer of 3DFX and PhysX. Is there anything they can't screw up?

Nvidia's graphics cards are the best on the market. The fact both PS4 and Xbox One went with Radeon is terribly disappointing

Here you are on another post, just being ignorant again. I swear you're trolling.

I remember when Nvidia PROMISED to support 3DFX customers & continue to provide drivers. 2 weeks after the buy, the website got shut down, driver support dropped.  I bought a 5500 when they first posted the note on the website thinking I would be ok & it was almost half off for price.  Nope...  got 1 year out it.  PhysX was a Joke, they tried to PUSH the market into something that would have been mandatory, thankfully things like Havok already worked better & we never had to really bother with it.  For my Personal stuff, I have been happy with the Radeon Line.  I did try to go with one of my rigs to Nvidia, but I was one of those people in the small percentage that had difficulties with a DOA card.  The universe just wants me to keep gaming with AMD I guess.  I still prefer Intel Processors. (for what I do)

drwhoiscool
drwhoiscool

You only say that because your one of those people who only thinks " their " stuff is the best.  as a Technician who has sold both, I can say more people complain about the Nvidia stuff having issues with games BEFORE the first patch comes out.  The funniest is when the game advertises Nvidia the start & it has issues.  Both companies make good Products, Most people are interested in their best bang for their buck, so depending on what time of year it is & what model has  been just put out, you cant say one is better then the other.
