Orchid Media International today announced that it has acquired the North American and European publishing rights to Storm Riders Online, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game for the PC. Orchid is licensing the rights from Epic One International, the publisher and distributor of Storm Riders Online in other regions.

The game is being developed by Malaysia-based Phoenix Games Studio and is based on the Storm Riders comic book from Ma Wing Shing, which also inspired an animated television series and live-action movie. No release date or pricing information is available.

In Storm Riders Online, gamers will group with other online players in ancient mythical China. The story sees martial-arts prodigies Wind and Cloud disappear from the dominant Tian Xia clan, shifting the power dynamic in the world and prompting rival clans to ready themselves to assume power of the land.

GameSpot will have more information on Storm Riders Online as details emerge.
