Nominees for 2017 Independent Games Festival Awards Revealed

Nominees for the 2017 Independent Games Festival (IGF) awards have been announced. There is no "Game of the Year" category, but the top award is the Seumas McNally Grand Prize. Nominees for that coveted award include Inside, Stardew Valley, Quadrilateral Cowboy, Event[0], Hyper Light Drifter, and Overcooked this year. Minecraft is among the previous Grand Prize winners.

In addition to the award, the winner gets a cash prize of $30,000.

Thirty different games were nominated across all categories. Leading the way in terms of total nominations was Virginia, which picked up four--Best Audio, Excellent in Narrative, Excellence in Visual Art, and The Nuovo Award. Hyper Light Drifter, Inside, and Event[0] received three nominations each.

You can see the full list of categories, nominees, and honorable mentions for this year's IGF awards below. Winners will be announced during the awards show on Wednesday, March 1, in San Francisco.
