No New Jason Bourne Movie in the Works Right Now

"Those things are a massive undertaking."

This summer's Jason Bourne won't be followed up with another entry right away. Series star Matt Damon told The Hollywood Reporter that no new Jason Bourne movie is in the works right now.

"Those things are a massive undertaking," he added (via Cinemablend). For Jason Bourne, filming began in September 2015 and didn't finish until March, making it a seven-month shoot. "It's just big, with a massive second unit," Damon added. The suggestion here is that making Jason Bourne movies is a long, tiring task.

Damon didn't rule out making another Jason Bourne movie someday, jokingly saying it would be "the septuagenarian one" or "Bourne with a walker."

Jason Bourne, released in July 2016, made more than $412 million at the global box office against a budget of $120 million, according to Box Office Mojo. It was Damon's fourth time playing the amnesiac action hero, following The Bourne Identity (2002), The Bourne Supremacy (2004), and The Bourne Ultimatum (2007). A spinoff movie, The Bourne Legacy, came out in 2012 and starred Jeremy Renner as a black ops agent named Aaron Cross. Damon didn't appear in that movie.
